I have a Megatech Feedom Flyer and it seemed a liitle underpowered at first with the stock battery (900Mah 2/3 A seven cell NMh) also the charger it came with took about 2.5 hours to charge. Then I bought the deluxe automatic battery charger and two high-performance batteries (1100Mah and a little lighter). It flew a lot better and I was happy for a few months but I thought maybe there is something even better.
I then logged onto www.onlybatteries.com (good folks) and bought seven 2/3 A 1200Mah NMh cells ($ 2.39 each). I soldered small 18 guage wire leads across the cells in series as they were black taped together in the original configuration and put on the appropriate connector, cycled them twice (as is always recommended for new batteries) and now my Freedom Flyer flies twice as high for almost twice as long. I thought I was going to lose it once because it was gaining so much altitude!
The actual power comparison on these new cells based on my testing under a two amp load is as follows. The "hi-performance batteries" lasted 10 minutes and had an average voltage under load of 7.35 volts. The www.onlybatteries.com cells lasted 16 minutes and had an average voltage under load of 7.70 volts. That equals higher prop RPMs for more minutes! They ran pretty cool also and were the same weight as the hi-performance batteries. So, if you are a little technical and good at soldering, you can make your own powerful batteries. One note: always upgrade your shipping to UPS when ordering because they are in Canada (unless you happen to live in Canada).
