We've seen a long list of complaints about hobby shops - Now, I'd like to hear from everyone that's had a good experience with a retailer. Tell us where the good shops are that have gone the extra mile to take care of the customer. Lets give credit to those that are doing it right!

Well I have had a very good experience with one of the three shops Around town. They really know what they are talking about, and if you have any questions, or any problems with your car, they are glad to help out. Once i was looking for a part for my Nitro 4 tec, and they only had a graphite disk for the rustler, and he gave me one from Penguin racing. He said i should go home, install it, And if it doesnt fit, He said that i could bring it back and get my money back. Now isnt that cool? I really think the shops areound here are not too good but This one is one of a kind. Hope other people had some good experiences with their LHS too.

I really like Branford Hobbies and the hobby shop at Xtreme R/C. Paul and Pete and all the other shop owners are really nice. They help you out when you have problems with your car or truck. Plus, they also have a nice track which you could use for free. The people there are really down to earth. I can't live without that hobby shop. Just my two cents. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

RJS R/C in Eagle River, WI was always a good shop and track while they were open.
Too bad they were 100 miles from me and that they closed last rear, but Randy was a great guy.
I discovered them when they opened by our summer house up there.

I must be lucky. I haven't had any bad experiences at any of the local or not so local hobby shops I've been too. I usually go to ACE's Nitro and JP's. Both have been very helpful to me, especially JP's.
I have also been to Xtreme and Branford Hobbies and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

Debbies RC World in Virginia Beach, VA is the greatest. They have a every large selection of cars, parts, engines, you name it. They have the best prices around and are very helpfull. It is a family owned business, that cares about their customers. I buy all of my stuff for them. I always get good answers to my questions and no BS. They always suggest the most cost effective solutions. I drive 40 miles each way to goto Debbie's rather than 2 miles to the local shop because of the service I get.

I have one,
There's about 3 hobby shops around my town and one the people are nice the other the guy says evry thing on the xxxt is differnt! and the other one doesn't have losi parts but, I sometimes go there for a motor or other acssesories. I bught a moster of tuoring 15 double there and my brother droped on the ground and it pooped open! It's not rebiuldable and that was when i didn't know how to take of brushes. So it was about 3 days then i took it back to get it fixed if it was fix able. and he said he'd work on it so I gave him my phone # and called me back the next day and fixed it for free!

The best hobby shop I have been in is Ultimate Hobbies in Orange, CA. The store is awesome and has about the biggest selection of stuff I have ever seen. They have custom painted bodies by Andy's galore and nearly every part you can name. I actually found a ball diff for my Traxxas Street Sport there in stock. They even have the aluminum Big Bore shocks in stock. The guys behind the counter are really helpful and to them it doesn't matter what brand of car you have. The owner is a great guy and takes time to help you himself. All in all, Ultimate Hobbies is the best.

CA/RC has been very good! They may not always have what I am looking for (they usually do, though), but they have great prices and will be honest with you. When I've asked for a part, they show me what is available, they don't just pick up the most expensive one they have and try to play it off like that is the only one they have just to sell it to you. (I've had that happen more than once at that "People" place)
I really appreciate CA/RC's honesty and helpfullness. They don't have that "know it all" attitude that many shops have, either. You can be a newbie or an advanced racer and they will treat you with respect. (No, I don't work there!)

Ok I've got one. Just so you all don't think that I'm this jaded crusty grumpy dude.
I bought this Challenger260 pistol grip control second hand off this one guy for cheap. I knew it wasn't working, but I had a feeling it wasn't anything major. I went to this one shop that was absoloutle awsome I had been going there for a while. The guy cracked open my radio, did some tests, even had an ociliscope and used that. He said it was something that needed more time to figure out what it was. Although he couldn't fix it right away, at least he tried to help me out. Unfortunately this hobby shop closed down due to some totaly unrealted issues. Oh as for my transmitter, luckely my brother is into electronics, he figured it out, and I got a system for relatively cheap.

Southwest Hobby here in Albuquerque rules. I bought my truck and instead of buying a $30 charger for the EZ Start he told me to go to the Radio Shack in the same strip mall and pick up a $7 slow charger.....now that is service.
Not to mention Dennis always has the time to help ya figure out the wierd problems...
Sorry Steve, the only thing they helped me with was..."Stop hitting the walls and curbs, you won't spend as much here." I support my local hobbyshop 85% right now only 85% because mine is making me P.O. I will now not order something from them and just go to tower hobbies. After not ordering my crystals from Hitec for 4 weeks, including calling them 3 times a week, I finally said cancel it and went with Tower Hobbies. I do go in there and buy whatever they have in stock and they give me some advise, but now I don't special order from them. Its a 85% like, 13%not like 2 percent hate. Tats the best hobby shop around, JP

The best Hobby shop I've ever been to was North Coast Hobby in Mentor Ohio. I bought a gas car and couldn't start it. So the owner of the shop met me there on his day off to get me started. Cool eh? Then I bought a model airplane and he took me to a clubs private field and showed me how to fly it.

Well, The best shop I've ever been to was Hot Rod Hobbies, They have FRIENDLY people that are ready to help you out. They are always stocked up on parts, have all the option parts, and have a great track! Although they are 50mins away, I love taking my buisness there. They are the complete opposite of the 5min away "people" store in lawndale. Those guys at "people" have next to no custumer service! And some of their workers have some huge igos(spelling?)

Venture Hobbies in Wheeling, IL... these guys took the time to give me all the advice I could possibly ever want about every little facet of the sport... they helped me pick out the right car/radio/tires/esc/etc. and they matched or beat Tower on every price plus all the free advice... I had originally went in there to pick their brains to get info and was gonna buy somewhere else, but they were so cool about everything and their prices were so competitive, I would have bought from them even if they were a little higher... these guys run a good business and I would reccomed them to anyone...

The Flight Supply Shop, wich is the only hobby shob in my area, does both cars and planes. The owner is one of the nicest people I know. He helps everyone gives us free drinks and great deals cause there arnt a lot of car guys in town. He feels our pain with prices so he orders from the cheapest places and sell stuff almost at cost. Oh yeah some stuff like pinion gears he gives us for free some times. Anyway he knows what he is talking about and I'm happy with the service and prices, altough I look at adds in RCCA and its like wow $150 for this i'll get it but then i whip out my calculater and change the american $ into Canadian $ and it like crap its $225
I'm done now

I just Moved to Santa rosa, ca and the first hobby shop I went to was Jake's performance Hobbies in rohnet park, ca and i've got to say the owners son (he's probobly like 11 or 12) is the smartest kid i've ever met, at least in r/c cars. Good thing about santa rosa is I live like 20 miles away from dahm's racing bodies.

I have given props to Checkered Flag Hobbies in South County St Louis before.... but here it goes one more time.. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif
I have had nothing but Superb service from every single salesperson they have there... and i have always been treated with honesty, and respect... plus they stock tons of parts!!! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif There prices might be 10 bucks more than tower, but i will gladly pay the extra price to shop locally, and to support their store..... They truely are willing to go beyond the call of duty to help a customer out, and it doesn't matter if you have spent 10 grand there, or if it is your first time there and are just buying a 3 dollar pinion.... Simply a pleasure doing business with them... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

The local Hobbytown has been a great source for info and parts for my TCs. Plus I get to check out, "hands on" the latest RC vehicles they get in stock. Debbie's R/C World is awesome too, but it is a l-o-n-g way from where I live.
