Would Pro-Match GP3300 unmatched batteries work for mainly bashing and 1 or 2 club Novice races?

Certainly for bashing, probably for light racing. A former record holder for fastest Traxxas Rustler used unmatched cells, perhaps from promatch but I'm not sure. 60+ mph. He says he generally uses unmatched packs, and he does some pretty extreme bashing.

Anyone getting into the hobby with limited driving ability, less knowledge on the basics or just in it for the fun then the matched loose cells probably won't be that much of a benefit or noticeable difference. Your end result may only be one of price so try shopping around and compare prices of stick packs.
Like with many of the items used for play or competition as your driving and knowledge improves so can the items you purchase. The only problem I've every encountered with assembled stick packs was sometimes the poor methods used in assembling them.

Yes, unmatched batteries will work fine for bashing and the occasoinal club race, however, there are some battery (http://www.specpointbatteries.com) companies that sell matched packs at or near the price of unmatched ones.

Thanks for the input guys. I have another question, do I still have to equalize unmatched GP 3300's? I'm know I have to discharge them to 5.4V but what about equaliztion?

All packs can benefit from using equalizing trays, especially unmatched ones.
