View Full Version : What’s the secret?
I see guys out on the track that can turn their vehicles very tightly, and I’ve asked them how they accomplish it and I hear “I steer with my rear wheels”, which doesn’t tell me anything. What does this mean?
Thanks,
Zed
BTW. I'm talking about off-road trucks.

On the bigger tucks (Tamiya Juggernut i know for sure) you can put a servo on the rear wheels like you have on the front wheels, so they will steer too.

They probably mean by giving it throttle in the turns to swing the rear around a bit.

They also can mean the way their rear susp is set up
That means they wont give you any secrets! I dunno, but try a servo they're usuing. Some turn further than others, some cant turn for shhhh...well, you get my point. My servo turns at .08, but the travel is horrible. I had to make my transmitter go to 125% (maximum of radio) of what the servo was meant to use and it still wont turn far enough, hmpphhh. Also, try harder coupound, deeper rip tires in front. They diig in better and improve front wheel traction and may help the rear end swing around a little more.

I think when they say they steer with there rear they mean when they want to do a tight turn they blip the throtle you know swing the rear end around a little but if you use to much throtle the rear end will break loose and then you wont be able to turn very sharp or do a controled turn.

They are talking about throttle control. As others have said you can blip the gas to get it loose for a moment or hit the brakes as any car will steer more "off throttle and/or on brake"
Usually when I blip the gas, the truck pushes. When I break around a corner, I usually come out with little or no speed. I guess I just need to keep practicing.
