I always wondered if traxxas is owned by some company in japan? Just weird how they name their vehciles like how japan names their rear vehicles like honda, nissan, etc. I mean.....like
Jato
2.5R engine
little naming conventions like that.

now that you talk about it,"t-maxx" or "Bandit" could have been tamiya cars.
american cars tend to simpler names that don't mean something in particular(RC10,XXX)
merits discussion

Its all marketing. Adding an "R" makes everything faster. Especially Hondas and Acuras.

ok you got me because I like foreign cars I just noticed that about traxxas the way they name things. Like I know honda has an accord type R, skyline GTR.....little naming conventions like that the way traxxas names them reminds of foreign cars.

It is just a marketing ploy used by almost every manufacturer. Do you want to buy a vehicle with a regular, boring name. Or something with a bunch of acronyms (or just pointless letters) that make it sound fast?
Honestly, I would rather have a vehicle with a cool name :D

Well Tamiya uses "designation" codes... like TRF414MS... while some of thier off road cars have names, they still retain chassis codes... its not a normal name you can pronounce but merely the name of the chassis... another example is FD3S, a japanese designation code for their vehicle... how many of these codes do you go by that is american? i havent seen/or heard of such... so like the traxxas, its labeled Bandit... unless the chassis of the Bandit has a designation, i never heard of...

Japan uses "R", but America is in love with "X". RCX, XXX, X-main, Xtreme, Traxxas, MAXX. :) See its American.

You want a more American name than the JATO? (http://rocketsciencebooks.home.att.net/jato.html)

Jato is an american term used by the united states airforce. Jato is a term used for getting a plane of the ground with limited take off room. They use rockets to launch the airplane. Jato stands for "Jet assisted take off"

As it should be.
I can't stand buying japanese when I could be buying american.
The way I look at it is; Why would I want to send someone in Taiwan to college, when I could be sending one of our guys?
Call me strange, but thats how I've always been... :)
Traxxas is an american company, that has everything they sell made in Taiwan. What could be more American than that?
