You can't get any better shock bodies than the grey AE team shocks, which are teflon coated and hard anodized.
As for caps, yes, AE makes blue aluminum caps. If you want to improve on the shocks a little, replace the caps with Progressive Suspension's piggyback expansion reservoirs-- http://www.progressivesuspension.com/documents/rc_cars.html
I have a set on my FTGT, and the shocks are butter smooth, the rebound is much more consistent than stock, and you don't have to rebuild the shocks as often.

Yes, those things Gokou mentioned work killer. They may be a little to heavy for a buggy though. Especially considering how high they are.
I find that the plastic shock caps work really well. Better than the aluminum ones, and they look better too ;)
As for the shocks, yes the "Team Shocks" are killer. Definately stay with AE OEM parts though, for the shocks and shafts, etc

The AE plastic caps are nice. I never broke one on my FTGT. I still prefer the black aluminum caps on my RC-10 Team Car over both the plastic caps and the new blue caps (the black goes with the grey shock bodies much better than the new blue aluminum AE caps). Either way, you can't go wrong with the AE grey team shock bodies and their caps, either the plastic or aluminum caps.
As far as shock shafts go, run the AE Unobtainium shafts. The MIP gold shock shafts are also an excellent choice. MIP blue o-rings are also an improvement over stock, as they are a little bit smoother.
