I am waiting to see the response as I am just starting the build of a cyclone myself so I would like the guys opinion as well I want to run a Hanson Dry pipe and they run hot. I run a Deep V with a hatch the opening in the front of the cowl is about 4" across and 3" high it has 4 holes int he back of the hatch with 7/16" size it stays pretty cool but the hatch on a cyclone doesn't leave alot of options I was thinking of cutting a couple wide slots in the sides of the hatch then put 4 holes in the back just like my Deep-V.

I just started on the boat yeasterday I got the engine mounted the shaft tube mounted. I was actually thinking of making a couple of scale vents that would go on the side of the boat back by the transom. The intake will be made into the hatch I am planning on using a couple of small scoops on the side of the cockpits. I plan on mocking up everything get it all in place take her to the lake and run her see if evreything is fuctional. Then strip it back down and give it a 4 stage paint job.

Candy apple red over a metalic silver base coat with some graphics done in silver and gold heavy flake under the red then 6 coats of clear. :D

A general rule of thumb is to have the exhaust vent area larger than the intake area. The incoming air increases in volume as it heats up so it needs more room to exit. This is very simplified but is a good guideline.

I now have 1-5/8 round and 2-5/8 by 2 inch slots in upper transom .more air out than in.
