I am going to get a new car for my graduation, and i wanna get a monster truck, I have a GS Storm, Associated t4, and a rc10gt that needs tlc.
I wanna get a maxx, but are they gonna go dead now that the revo is out?
I wanna make the right choice. what about other mt's?
I really like the maxx because i can get rpm parts for it.
Whats your advice? :)

You'll probably be able to get parts for a Tmaxx for another 10 years or more AFTER Traxxas stops selling it. Whenever that will be. We still sell a ton of them here at our shop.

are you going for racing too? if so try TNX pro. I know there's not much of hop-up for it STILL. it's tough, durable and the lightest from all the MT that mentioned above! it's also good for bashing

Officially the T-Maxx isn't dead, but IMO, it should be. It was a great truck when it came out, but time, and other manufacturers have not been kind. IMO it is now among the worst monsters on the market. It's too unstable, too brittle, and too finicky for my tastes. I think it's a decent truck still, but the problem is that while it's decent, every other truck on the market (Revo included) is exceptional in one way or another. Ya, the bang for your buck thing isn't bad, but that depends on what you're going to do to it. A T-Maxx can be made about twice as tough if you put the entire RPM catalog on it, but by then you could have bought a more modern design that is not dependent on hop-ups to be competitive. A properly build Maxx will match most trucks, but that's just the thing...the other trucks would still be stock, so you lose all of your "value." It's a versatile design, and overall it's not bad, but it's just not competitive in today's market in it's stock form IMO, and it's too expensive to make it competitive to make the initial savings worthwhile, again, IMO.

I dont think the T/S-Maxx will ever Die theres too manny after market companys Making good dollars off them and the Hop ups have Become almost Unlimited.
I think there a great truck and the TRX.2.5R is one nice engine...
its alot better than the origional TRX.2.5. and no Im not even gonna mention the pro.15.
the TRX2.5R I beleive should be rated against .18 engines and not .15's Its one Mean Engine for a .15 thats for sure...

Now might be a good time to buy a TMAXX, keep it in the box, wrap it up in plastic and blankets, and throw it in the attic to open up 10 years from now to resell.

But you see the Revo is still an exceptionally well designed truck that doesn't need hop-ups, whereas a Maxx is hopeless among the current crop of monster trucks without some major mods.

Do you even have a Revo? Have you seen one run? Driven one? Probably not, given your obviously well-informed opinion about the quality of it...
Matt
I would probably opt for a different vehicle, especially if my intentions had racing involved and I didn't want to spend alot to be up to race spec.
Maybe that GS SUT would be a good option for you?

Like said above, the TMaxx is going to have parts for quite awhile. But if you are going to race, I would probably not get the TMaxx.
What is really funny, at our track, our stock class for monster trucks is called the stock Tmaxx class. not ONE tmaxx has raced it for awhile. All owned with REVO's.
I would probably invest in the SUT or the Hot Bodies Stadium Truggie (I have one that I race in OUTLAW class). But the SAVAGE, TNX are all good RTR's out there also..

The TMaxx is like the '55 Chevy - everybody said the '57 would kill it and then came a whole slew of Chevy's that were again supposed to put it to rest, (64 Impala, 70-72 Novas and so on), yet I can still go across the street and buy parts for the one my brother and I still have that we used to drag race. Not just stock parts either - there is pretty much anything and everything available for a '55. There's the same kind of huge aftermarket of parts and modds being cranked out and sold for the TMaxx type trucks, the Tmaxx is not likely to die out any time soon.
Its a completely diff question whether Tmaxx is competitve or can still be competitive. If you're going to race, this is an important ques, if you're not going to race, what you like, your budget, and what parts your lhs carries is prob a lot more important.

I Agree With Duster360..i Have Been In This Hobby For 25+ Years And Seen A Lot Of Things Come And Go..but The T-maxx Has A Strong Following It Changed The Face Of Nitro Monster Trucks Forever.it Was The First To Have A Servo Control Reverse..that Was Unheard Of In Any Nitro Monster And Electric Start,a 2 Speed, and Independent Suspention All In One Truck.
It Truly Was Ahead Of All The Rest..so To Say It Is Dead...i For One Who Owns 3 T-maxxs And A Revo Can Say It Will Be Around For Ever......
