I only found this site yesterday and gas powered radio control cars have suddenly fascinated me...what is the top speed of these things? Also, does anyone have links to movies of them running?

If you wreck at any high speed ( hit a curb, sideways of a jump, hit your best freind in the leg) you are bound to break somthing but these little things are tuff. you might replace a arm or two a few turnbuckles here and there unless you break your chassis in half rip the head off you engine. Iam not tring to scare you these things don't happen very often but if you drive it hard... you never know.

Don't worry and have fun!!

Oh heh. For a moment there I thought you meant replace your best friend's arm and leg. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif Although that could happen. We're talking bout a projectile hurled at someone's body at 80mph. That's serious damage.

well, if u start out in hobby level rc with a nitro car. beware. u need to be responsible for yur actions. u will break many many parts (being a newbie) and u may break soem things that are not on your car. as already stated, legs. and whatever else u may hit.

i have an electric traxxas rustler. and i was jumping it, and hitting the brakes in mid air, and doing front flips. and i only landed 2 out of about 17 times. the others, i did flips on the ground, barrel rolls, and whatnot. unless it was flipped on its lid when it landed, it drove right back to me unharmed. i didnt have the body on either, so i had soem things fall off of the chassis. the crystal on the receiver fell out, btu i put it back on, and the esc fell out, so i superglued it to the chassis. and the on off switch fell off, but i didnt want to try to mess with that. i just tied it around soemthing. and the day before that, i was jumping a pile of woodchips, and there was a fence right next to it, and i went about 40 mph, and about 15 out of 25 times jumping it, i hit the fence, and spun the truck around, and got caught in the fencing, and when i took the truck out of the fence, it an great.

these things are very durable, yet they are extremely fragile. depends on how u run, and how u take care of it. maintancence takes a big toll on how yur car performs. i spent a year researching r/c and reading mags ( r/c caraction and r/c car) and then i finally bought my first r.c which was my rustler three years ago.

it takes a little work, btu if yur like me, the work is half the fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check out the new edition of nitro magazine they are getting 100mph out of an hpi rs4 touring car 1/10 scale. If you want to see them run go to duratrax.com or traxxas.com they have nice vids!

1/8 on-road gas can do 0-60 in 3s to a top speed of 80mph.

Jesus thats fast...I bet those things really bail if you turn fast at that speed don't they http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif Do people often total their cars in accidents?

100 mph. That is indeed bloody crazy. Considering that my car takes a long time to get up to that speed...I would not want to be hit in the legs by that!

Thanks for all responses BTW
