I just bought a futaba 3pdf radio/reciever (ch.84) setup. When I tried to switch the crystal to use (ch. 82) for my other truck it didn't work. I called futaba and they said that you can only use the chanel that the tx is configured for. Is this true? Is there any work arounds for this. At the track where I race you need to have an alternated chanel. Does this mean I need to have another tx setup for that other chanel?

Confused....

RndSKI, All you need to do is change the crystals as a set. If you want to change to say frequency 86, just install the 86TX crystal in the radio, & the 86RX crystal in the receiver. They have to be bought as matched sets. Hope this helps.

That's what I did. It didn't work. I will try it again. The guy @ futaba said that you are not supposed to do that because the tx is configured only to run on set frequency. I hope this is a bunch of FCC BS but that is what he said.

Are you sure you put the crystal for the TX in the transmitter & the one for the RX in the reciever? If you mixed them up, they won't work.....

Make sure you bought AM crystals for an AM radio or FM for FM!

Ok, I will double check it tonight. The guy at futaba said something about frequency shifting???? I am assuming that you guys are switching crystals? right? No problems?

rndski - the guy at futaba has to say that , because technically it is illegal to change freq.s under fcc regulations , and for all he knows you could be an fcc official on the phone and he could get in trouble telling you how to break the law , do as others had said check to see if you had the right chrystals am/fm and proper mhz 75/27 , then put the tx in the trans. and rx in the receiver.
