im currently running a trinity speed gems pro 15x2. ive had it for a year and a half, i have no idea how many times ive run it, and ive never cut the com. however i try to keep it clean, and i dissemble it about once a week. i dont cut the com because i dont have access to a lathe; i dont feel like paying $ for one, and also my LHS is about 30minutes away. i dont race, i just run in streets/parking lots with friends.im running a tamiya TB02, and formerly owned an HPI RS4 rally coverted for street with shocks from one of the RS4 nitros.

my motor is becoming very sluggish, and im thinking its time for a replacement. i run 1500packs on a novak fusion esc, and im thinking anything below 15T will run through my packs pretty fast. for a replacement im considering an epic modified, however i was also playing around with the idea of getting a stock motor. if that means a decrease in speed, forget it. i guess the main questions im asking are; if i do get a stock motor, will it be comparable in speed/power, and will it lengthen my run times. also, if i get a lower turn modified, will it shorten my run time but provide more speed. then theres the option of buying yet another 15t, but i think its time for a change. the only modified motors ive ever run are a speed gems 15x3, and a speed gems pro 15x2; im reluctant to deviate because i dont want to waste money.
my budget is anything under $50, and im going to buy from my LHS as they have a good selection of speed gems and some epics as well; i dont feel like waiting for an order from tower.

A stock motor will not produce as much speed as a 15t, but it would increase runtimes. But from the way you were talking a stock motor is out of the question. For a mod motor i sugguest a trinity speed gems extreme. I have heard that these motors are really fast.

WHat about getting a 19turn, they will be almost as fast as your 15 turn but will giive more run time and last longer. Is a mid point between what you have and a stock motor.

I have a orion Revolution in my truck, a T3, and that thing hauls, but im not sure if its under 50, i think it was. You might need a stronger ESC tho. Not sure.

Dont get me wrong I'd love to support my LHS, but they will charge an arm and a leg for a motor. Most likely over your budget. Though its true that tower takes a couple of extra days to ship, they always get it right.

right now im leaning towards a 19t. ill have to see what my LHS has in stock, and if they're selection isnt up to par [which it probably wont be] ill order one from tower.
right now im considering something along the lines of these:

A Stock Motor(27-Turns) is Nothing compared to a 15-Turn Motor. The 15-Turn is Much Faster than a Stock Motor.
Stay with the same type of Turns you always use.....but if any; just try a different Brand of a 15-Turn Motor.

I got tired of the Stock Class; so I moved up to the 19-Turn.

Take Care.

All 3 are good... but if i were to choose 1, it would be the first link ;)

I also have a 15x2 Speed Gems Titanite. I have had it 1 1/2 years. I have had the com cut maybe twice and installed 4+ sets of brushes. It's still fast.

It seems like you have had similar luck with yours so just get another one. They only cost about $30.

i had my timing at around 18degrees. i put it back on zero degrees today and ran one epic 1500 pack. it seemd pretty fast, no problems at all. maybe i dont need a new motor afterall. we'll see how it goes.

I would get the cobalt before the other two any day. Keep in mind that the can the comm is in can make a big difference in the motor. I bought one d-5 can and have been putting stock comms in it for a friend to learn on, its a big improvement over the stock orion core can .

Check out the Reedy 19T too (it's the 'quad magnet' one). The cobalt will be good, but it is $50, and will probably burn through the stock brushes in no time. It sounds to me like you're not planning on purchasing a lathe (hey, I don't have one either :p ) so maybe a cheaper motor would be better. I'd rather get two speed gems for $60, than one Cobalt for $50. Personally I run a Revolution V2, but now I'm looking for a decent speed gems for my race truck just for something to get by on, so I don't have to worry about cutting the comm every 5 runs. Hope this helps.

A Orion/Peak V2 14x2 motor would be ideal. Lots of power with minimal maintenance. Set the timing to around 5 degrees and keep it clean and the bearings oiled. ;)
