Hi, I am wondering where I can get one of these cars the least expensive. I also need to get a radio and ESC . I was thinking of Horizon hobby adn ghetting the XR2 with the Power Pulse ESC. What do you think? ASNy less expensive places? Anything I should change? I am on a budget, and I want to race, so please help!

Well when I posted the question of which to get almost everyone told me to go with the regular XXX-T and not the spec because of the ball bearings. Since ball bearings are one of the best things to have when racing go with the kit that comes with them. As far as electronics, dont ask me, Im no good with them, yet...

Try and save up some mo' money so that you can purchase an XR3 radio...if not, then just buy the standard XXX-T kit

you really dont need to spend that type of money on a radio. it will just distract you (and trust me, i am all for bells and whistles, and that crap, however it just isnt ecomincal) the xxxt spec is good, except it lacks some BB's and universals, which will end up costing you around the price of a normal xxxt to upgrade. but just for the bearings, you will be saving money, since the only expensive ones are in the tranny.

as for an esc, DONT SKIMP there. you will probably want to run mod motors, i actually run a super rooster, that way i can practice with reverse and not have to go out and get my car every time. which is nice. and then i just dial it out later.

as for a radio, get what fits your hand the best, i like the new futabas, i got the bottom of the line, i love it! except for the lack of dual rate, i couldnt want anything else. so go with the $70 peka or whatever, its got features, and it has a great feel.

Both Spec vehicles are great values. Just add 8 bearings and you have a Triple-X. The plastic slides work very well and in stock most team drivers were using them because of the lower rotating mass and better handling in bumpy sections. Don't worry about purchasing a Spec or race version you really can't go wrong. As for the electronics get what you can afford there are several budget ESCs that can handle low turn motors. The XR2 is also a good radio. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

it is, however, i would go novak, or tekin, novak has great customer support, tekin i have heard has problems but i have yet to have one from them. however the rebel is great for racing anything above 13 turns. and its cheap too.
and you should be racing stock, so you are fine.

do the losi driveshafts have the same problem as the traxxas ones, with breaking and stripped, and being a pain to work with?

but for stock they do pose a advantage.
