I just recently got back into the R/C hobby after 10yrs. I purchased a Losi XXX Kinwald Ed. Assembly went smooth but my shocks seem to be leaking a LOT of oil. They felt firm and smooth at first but now there is a squishy airy feel to them. Any suggestions?

To give you an idea, the rear arm will have quite a bit of shock oil on it after letting the car sit overnight.

I guess I should probably rebuild them and try again, but I thought I'd try for some suggestions.

Make sure you're tightening the cartridge down all the way. There should be no gap between the shock body and the ring around the cartridge. You assembled the cartridges right, didn't you? ;)

Yeah, you gotta crank those things on real tight, I usually end up stripping one or two every rebuild, but mine don't ever leak. Also it helps if you put some of that white assembly grease all over the o-rings before you stick them in that cartridge thingy.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. The shocks were preassembled, at least the part with the o-rings. According to the guy at the local shop, the factory guys are apparently really sloppy. Gonna rebuild tonight. FUN!

Update

It wasn't the factor built cartridges or o-rings at all. I just didn't have them tight enough. I rebuilt the shocks and really cranked down on the cap until it just seemed like they might strip. No leaks. What do ya know.

I gotta say, these systems have come a million miles since my first RC(a Kyosho Maxxima- laf) **** shocks are silky smooth. This suspension is a thing of beauty.
