Hey, I was wondering if anyone has been to TamiyaCon in California before? The web page says they have a store where you can buy Tamiya products, but I'm wondering if the prices or selection of r/c products are worth the trip. Thanks.

It's more focused on plastic and fine scale modeling. If you want to see muesum quality work, you should check it out. Mr Tamiya will be there as well as other notables. The sales area does have a quite a few bargains and they may even have their new outlet store open to the public. There will also be some other cool demos and activities going on all over the place. I'll be there :p

rtypec is right on in his description. If you go there with only the intetion of buying r/c products you'll probably be dissapointed. The main attraction at TamiyaCon is the model show/contest. If I remeber correctly, they only had a couple of r/c products in their sales tent last year. I go to see the models on display, the rest is all gravy.

Thanks for the quick review. I might stop by and check out the models. The winner gets a paid trip to Japan. I might have to get into this competition next year.
