Early today I placed a new P2k Arm in an Chameleon motor can for the ball bearing effiency. All I wanted to do is have an efficent/long run bashin motor. After I peaked to pack and blipped the throttle the wheels spun the wrong direction. I checked all the polarities numerous times (they were correct). Reprogrammed the esc (still wrong direction) and even got out an old P2k motor. With the P2k motor, the armature spun in the right direction. So I just put that in to go out n play.
Why did the motor spin in the wrong direction? I thought there were the same just different winds....

look at the radio and make sure the throttle is not reversed.

or the motor wires comming from the speedo might be backwards

Mabey you installed it with the timing 180 dgrees off?

Did the throttle reverse - same thing
The wires are fine - I put in another motor and ran in the right direction
Timing is fine - Notch in the endbell prevents that
I'm clueless here....

Hmmm, try to turn the endbell the other way when installing, just like TimisTim said, you prolly got it on backwards ;) it happened to me before long ago, then i understood ;)

Yeah, you probably reinstalled the endbell backwards. Take it off, rotate it 180 degrees and bolt it back on.

The reason for the motor running in wrong direction is this. Stock motors in order to be legal use a Mabachi cross wrap - the wire must go in a certain direction but with the Chameleon armatures Trinity (EPIC) was using a Hemi wrap in which the wire is wrapped in the other direction. So if the armature in the Chameleon used a Hemi wind it will turn in the wrong direction when installed in a standard legal stock motor.
This was also very noticeable when I race modified motors with the D4s, Trinity sold them with a Hemi wrap but if I used an aftermarket armature an builder used a standard method the motor would turn in wrong direction. With modified motors it's relatively easy to get motor turning in right direction, and timed correctly. Stock motors have a tab that prevents tampering - endbell will only go on in one position - plus the shape of can not being round may not allow you to rotate endbell and position it correctly even after removing the tab.

EXACTLY what answer I was looking for. I knew it had something to do with that but I didn't know all the technical lingo to try and explain what I think it was.
So I just have to find a round can w/ball bearings so I can flip the endbell 180deg?
