Hello i'm new to this forum and really new to electric. I've allways ran nitro .I just got a team losi bk2 off of a guy that has a epic "outlaw stock" motor and a 2000 mah battery. Coming from nitro this thing is slow , i know its not going to be as fast as a nitro car but theres gotta be a better combo then what i have. Theres a new track in my area opening up soon thats going to be roar leagal. Whats a better combo for this car? How should i gear it?

thanks for the help

For some good batts get GP3300's. As for the motor do you want to race stock or mod. I know it already has a stock motor in it but since you have all that experience with nitro I think you will be able to handle a mod motor.

Wait until the track opens and see what the fast drivers are using. GP3300's as stated above are always a good choice for batteries. Electric seems slow compared to nitro in wide open spaces but if you aren't running on a track, you can't really appreciate how quick an electric car can be. I run both but I prefer my nitro for bashing and prefer the electrics for racing.

When you say your electric is slow, I assume you mean only top speed when bashing in wide open areas. Where I race, most of the tracks are on the small side so electric vehicles have an edge in lap times.

If your battery is a sport pack it is definately holding you back. You also did not mention your charger either. For stock motors, you need to be able to charge the pack at 5 amps with a peak charger. The pack should be warm, but not hot, when its done.

1 Batteries
2 Charger
3 Motor
4 ESC
4 Gearing

Is what you need to get the most speed from an electric car.

From what I have heard that is a great esc. Everybody seems to be using them. It has reverse lockout ( i think ) someone tell me if im wrong, so you can race with it. Sounds like a good choice to me.

The XRS is a great ESC. It can handle motors down to 15 turns, so you would be able to run a mild-modified motor with no problems, and if you want to run stock I have had really good luck with the p2k2 motor from Trinity, it costs around 30 bucks and for that price the performance is awesome. Someone made the good suggestion of seeing what the fast guys are running at the track. Try to find a good tire setup for the track. Even though they wont neccessarily make the car any faster on top end, if you have the right tire and suspension setup you often times will see a more dramatic improvement in lap times than even moving to a hotter motor. Make sure you expereiment with different gearings at the track and take notes to find out which setup yields the best results. Have fun and good luck!

My only suggestion would be the esc, while 15 turn is okay for bashing when you get into modified racing most will probably be using lower turns so that esc may not meet your motor requirements. Try talking now to people who race at that track, visit the hobby store ask questions of what guys used or plan to use for the upcoming season. This way you have more time to get the things you may need or give you a little time to get things setup for your first race. If track has a website up, that's another way of finding information.

but isn't it bad to equiped a buggy/truck with a 15T or less motor because they don't have enough power to turn the wheels?
