I have an electric outboard that came stock with a 550 size motor thats made to run on 6 cells. I want to get a graupner speed 700bb but so I can run it on 12 cells and get more speed but I don't know if it will fit. Will it?

No its the hobbico ep-1 outboard.

First of all, what boat are you planning on running the 800bb in? The only hobbico boat that comes with that 550 outboard is the Pro fisherman. I happen to have a pro fisherman, and I'll guarantee to you right now that boat can't handle the 700bb. First off that 800bb is about twice the size of the 550 outboard stock on the boat, plus its very heavy, and if ou have the pro fisherman, you'll know that boat is already way too heavy in the aft. Your best bet if you plan to run 6-7cells is to simply upgrade to a rebuildable 540 motor. The hobbico esc can only handle 27 turns, so with that esc youd have to run a stock motor. The new fantom stock motors are amazingly fast. Or you could opt for a higher end speed control that can handle lower turns. I run a duratrax streak (12 turns capacity) in my outboard tunnel hull, with a 14 quad motor, and it FLIES.

Good luck.

It is just the outboard. I am going to run it on a 30 inche mono. Also if it would work I would run the Graupner 700bb NOT the 800bb and I would use the Graupner jeti navy esc. Any more questions?

I knew that, I knew that, I actually edited my post and put in 800bb, when I had written 700, sorry. My mistake. If its a 30inch mono, the 800 out board would proabaly work, did you have the 550 hobbico outboard on this mono initially? Any pix? I'm curious.

No, I do not have that outboard on the hull right now, it is on my pro fisherman but if the 700bb motor will bolt right in place of the stock 550 I was going to put the 700bb in the outboard unit and run it on this hull. I don't have any pictures- this is just project I was thinking about probably making. I don't have the hull or motor or esc yet but if the 700bb will fit right in where the stock 550 went I will probably go ahead and carry this project out. The only thing I have so far is the outboard and a radio in my pro fisherman that I was going to use on this boat but if you want pictures of the pro fisherman I could take some.
PS How much did you pay for your pro fisherman?

My pro fisherman was originally 189.99 on Tower, but with the included discount it was like 169.99. Geeze, I really doubt the 700bb motor will fit in that outboard unit. It's just way too big. You might be better off getting an entire new outboard, like the 800GRX of Graupner 650 outboard.

The 700 motors will not just bolt up to the exisiting mount, it will require some work. The mounting bolt spacing is different, and the output shafts are 'way different in diameter. I do not know if the lower unit will take the stress of the more powerful 12-cell motor and its much larger prop.

Ok thanks everyone for the advice- I probably will just use the 800 outboard. Suicide, I bought my pro fisherman off of tower hobbies scratch and dent. I paid 133$ for it but it had a very small hairline crack and couldn't be sold as brand new even though it was. It was a 56 dollar crack fixed with a 2$ pack of epoxy.

Haha, thats funny, I paid retail for mine and It came completely cracked down the hull. I actually just sent it back after running it with water proof tape on the hull a few times. It still leaked.
