Hey All,

Wondering if anybody can lend some experience here.

I seem to be having some flow trouble with the metalic paints, Pactra Chezoom Teal is the offending culprit. I am running 20psi on a 5 gallon tank type compressor. I started out thinning 1 to 1 ratio and am up to 2 to 1 (thinner/paint) and still the same problem persists. I have also adjusted the airpressure.

I am trying to fade the Teal so i've set the adjustment screw on the airbrush for a fairly fine spray pattern, If I open the adjustment screw so that the paint flows well I have a hard time keeping up with the paint (runs).
The airbrush has a .3mm tip, I am wondering if this is the problem   ?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Tom

Try using a larger tip with less pressure, also you may want to go back to a 1:1 or a 1:1.25 ratio so the paint doesnt run as much. Try cleaning the tip thoroughly(sp?) and make sure that nothing is clogged or bent.

Lacquer or acrylic paint?

I always INCREASE psi when using metallics as they are "stickier" in the brush than plain paint. When spraying acrylic metallics I go up to 40-45 psi.

Thanks Guys,
I'm using laquer. I will try bumping up the pressure, just trying to stay away from the cobweb effect that i've read so much about.
Thanks Again

Took the advice,
Upped the pressure and thickend the paint back up, lot less hassels.
Thanks again

What causes the cobweb effect? I thought it was paint that was too thick. I was using canned air :( when I had this problem. I now have a compressor. What pressure should I generally run at?

Not to sure if I'm qualified to answer this, from what I have read the cobwebs are created by using to much air pressure. As far as what pressure to paint with, that is a trial and error thing, different pressures for different paints.
These threads are full of information regarding paint pressure, just do a search.

Oh, be carefull some of the posters around here get a real childish attitude about asking questions on their posts, something about hi-jacking threads.

Good Luck
