Towards the end of this summer I'm thinking about building about a 27 inch mono and mounting the Graupner speed 800 outboard on the transom. If this works out like want I'm hoping to maybe get at least 35 mph top speed. Will it go that fast? The motor is rated at 16-24 cells and I'm planning on running 24. Any comments and/or suggestions would be helpful.

I reviewed the Graupner F-1 tunnel hull in 2002 with that motor. I only ran it on 18 cells, and the speed was around 25-28 mph. On 24 cells it would have been faster, and the stock prop was chosen more for endurance than for top speed. You may be able to get 35 on 24 cells if the boat ran clean enough and was free of the water.

Wouldn't a 27 inch hull be slightly small for such a massive outboard? I'd go a little larger is its a mono.
