I just started to run my HPI Micro RS4s again after about a year of them being packed away after a move.

I had purchased 4 of the HPI brand 1100mAh Ni-MH batteries. I pluged them all into a car and tried to get it to run. Only one had a slight amount of juice left that barely enabled me to turn the wheels.

So, I put them on to charge. I have a MRC SuperBrain 959 charger and I just conected the battery and hit start. After about 4 minutes it beeped telling me it was done. Impossible. I disconnected everything, hooked it back up and tried charging it again. This time it took more like 30 minutes. After it was done I took it for a run on my track and it only lasted about 8 laps (2-3 minutes).

Then I remembered that I was supposed to set the SuperBrain up before hitting start so I tried charging one on 1A and 30mV. It took much longer this time. However, when I went to go test it out on the track it did last longer, but not much. I'd say about 10 minutes tops.

I remember these things lasting about 30 minutes or more...longer than I could even drive them.

Are my batteries toast or is there anything I can do to get them back to the way they were?

the 959 is notorious for false peaking and not fully charging packs... if u get a chance either at ur track or with sum friends.. ask to use sumone elses charger and see if it helps....

So there shouldn't be anything wrong with the batteries after they sat for a year?

Is the 969 any better, or another brand?

ive tried various settings, and it false peaked on not very good cells, after it false peaks just hit start again, ive had 2-3 false peaks for about 2-3 years, so its not notorious. It happens.

Should it be 7.2V when fully charged? The highest I can seem to get is 6.66 (yeah, scarry).

if you have 6.66 volts you have only 5 good cells, I wasn't sure how many cells in your pack.

The HPI Micro batteries are only 5 cells. The package doesn't say 7.2V, but I read that some other 1100mAh packs were 7.2V though.

This is a picture of it.

Your voltage is ok, I would cycle them a few times . You are chargeing at a fairly high rate ( a default of 3 amps) the batt should be warm when full charged.
