What tools are you guys using for putting engine holes in bodies like for the HPI Lambo Gallardo and the Ford GT (HPI)?

OLFA Circle cutter is a good one to use

I draw it with a fine tipped felt pen, then use a dremel. I used to use a circle cutter, but found dremel, with a little practice and going slow worked way easier. The key is go SLOW, don't force the dremel, or it will wander and gouge hard. let the speed of the tool do the work, which is usually set at the slowest speed when I do bodies BTW.

I draw the circle, punch a hole in the center with a body reamer, then dremel it out. Like illbreakit said, take your time with the dremel, and don't force it or it will get away from you and ruin your hard work.

After the Dremel you can always polish the edge with some 400 grit wet sandpaper for that finishing touch too :). I do this to the edge of the body to help resist cracking and cutting my hand on a sharp spot (keep the corner marshalls happy).

What dremel tool attachment do you use to make the holes?

Here's another tip, courtesy of rc xotic . com:

Don't rely on body scissors and a steady hand to cut a circular opening or wheel well. Instead, use a piece of scrap lexan as a compass; just anchor the lexan with a screw, and poke a hobby knife through the other end. Remember, the diameter of the opening will be twice the distance from the blade to the pivot. In this case, the blade is placed one inch from the pivot to cut a ROAR-legal 2" diamater cooling hole in a nitro car's windshield. Score the outline of the opening, then remove the scrap lexan and cut from the pivot hole to the scribe line with a pair of body scissors. Peel out the waste lexan and there you have it--a perfectly round hole
