Newbie question of the day. What are the "legal" requirements?

What are the rules one must adhere to while onroad, offroad racing? Please list the equipment as well.

The only real laws referring to R/C is 72mhz for air by the FCC. As for rules it depends on what you are racing in such as NORRCA, ROAR or IFMAR sanctioned groups each have their own requirements for the goods you can use while racing.

If you are new to R/C racing (as the thread title suggests), then you are probably just racing at the club level. Most clubs and hobby shops that sponsor races usually have their own rules which tend to be a hybrid of sanctioned rules and their own. Your best bet is to just ask the location you will be racing at what their rules are, I'm sure they will be happy to tell you.
