View Full Version : Tower Hobbies - How Long Is Too Long?

Has anyone had any problems ordering from Tower Hobbies? I ordered a radio and a motor and made the mistake of choosing economy shipping. I've been waiting for 2 weeks. Every time I call they say it should arrive "any day now".
Is this what I get for being cheap? Two weeks seems too long even for cheapo shipping.

I made the same mistake, once, after that I pay the extra 3 bucks for shipping. It took me just under 3 weeks to get the stuff I ordered "economy ground". You just have to be patient, Tower is one of the best Mail Order companies out there of RC stuff. Don't be mad at them because you went the Cheap Route. LOL

They should be able to give you a tracking number, which then you can check UPS's website and track it! Not only is it fun for the whole family, but you'll be able to say "But, it's only 3 miles away! I can go get it myself faster!" http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

I usually do 2 day air comes always on time, If i cheap out and do STD shipping it gets here in less than 1 week, TOWER has been great to me very help ful, and I owe them a dollar on a return and exchange which they overlooked , hehe.

you guys have to realize that tower is located in illinois (champaine i think) So the closer you live to there, the faster it will come. I never get more then the cheapest shiping (if you call 6.99 cheap!) and it usually only takes a week to get to my house, but i live in the SouthWest Lower portion of mighigan, so it is fairly close.. If you live in CA or the southern tip of Florida, of course it will take longer just because it is a longer distance.. Just thought id point it out. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

I love living this close to Tower.
Since I only order from them anyway.
I place my order on Sunday and get FREE shipping, and it's at my office on Wednesday or earlier. Now that's fast.

It can depend also how you pay. If you pay by check Tower could be waiting for the check to clear.

It took Tower about 3 weeks with regular shipping here to Japan around Christmas. Being in the states should be about 5 days shorter at regular shipping. They've been pretty reliable with my orders.
I do standard shipping and the longest it ever took to get here was 3 days including the weekend. Then again, same state.

I'm sure Tower gets your order out the door as quickly as possible; it's what happens AFTER that determines how quickly you get your package, and that's out of Tower's hands (true for all mail order)! I think "economy" is code for "send it by regular mail", and we all know how that can go. How do economy packages get shipped--did anyone notice the label on their economy package?

Economy Shipping is sent out Snail Mail, in most cases being shipped here to Colorado, Tower will give you an Estimated time of delivery. To Colorado they list it as 14 to 18 days, for $3.00 I guess thats not too bad. For the $6.00 shipping charge i'll get me parts within 3 to 5 days (usually 3).
When using Economy Shipping its sent through Standard First Class Mail, and like PeterV says, what happens AFTER it leaves Tower is purely up to our good old Postal Service.

If you're gonna place an order of say $200 or more than it's worth it to join their super saver's club. You'll get free shipping on all orders over $150 (including that one) and a 3 issue subscription to RCCA. I did this and every time I order from them I use econo shipping and I get my stuff in less than a week 'cause they rush delivery to preferred customers. I don't work at Tower or anything this is just my experience with them.

I just got it today. It took two weeks and a day. The reason I was sooo in a hurry was because my car is complete minus the radio and motor that I ordered from Tower. Now after I go home from work I can install everything and actually drive my car instead of see it sit on my desk.
I've learned my lesson. You get what you pay for!!
