Hehe, it works every time :p
Well, I just a have some silly RC videos to show you. In accordance with RCCA BB policy I will not reference you to my site, that is in my profile, and will just link you directly to the videos ;)
All of these were taken of my RC10 B3 on a 1/2 done RC track a buddy and I are making. Yes, there wil be jumps and no, that one jump will not be plywood when we are done :p
Movie #1 (http://www.theshreves.com/pics/DSCN3732.MOV) 6.2 megs
Movie #2 (http://www.theshreves.com/pics/DSCN3733.MOV) 11.5 megs
Movie #3 (http://www.theshreves.com/pics/DSCN3734.MOV) 7.8 megs
Movie #4 (http://www.theshreves.com/pics/DSCN3735.MOV) 11.5 megs
Movie #5 (http://www.theshreves.com/pics/DSCN3737.MOV) 3.5 megs
The back straight is ULTRA bumpy. We sprayed round-up on it and are waiting for the grass to die. We also ordered 10 yards of top soil. A bunch of the dirt is going to make a HUGE berm at the back left corner. We made the driver stand out of a huge dog house :)
The dimensions are 75x90x75x30. It is a really weird shape, but we have a nice layout, don't you think ?

is that your back yard?!? Thats a really sweet looking track, much better than my attempt.
What motor are you running in the buggy?
jeepinator

Nope, it is a friend's "side" yard. He has like 5 acres.
The motor is a 17 single. It is a first generation Speed Gems that I bought years and years ago. It is still going strong, as you can see ...

bullfrog, I know what you mean !
When originally sized up the track it looked WAY WAY too big, so we figured it would have lots of options, straight aways, etc. Then I busted out the graph paper to make a design and was amazed how small it really was.
Then, when we set up the tubes I was even more amazed how small it suddenly looked ;)
JP, try right clicking on the link and selecting "save as". Save it to a place you can easily find, then go double lcik on it to play it directly. The MIME settings on browsers allways seem to get messed up.
Chizzler, it is a suburb of Portland, Oregon (duh, just in case :p ). And, it is spelled Clackamas, so you were very close ! Good memory !

Jeep, that track looks absolutely killer!!! I tried to make a track in the woods, but it is way too narrow. I kindof like the plywood jump!!! It looks cool. If that was you driving, you are awesome at driving, that car is pretty darn fast too.

Portlander, great nickname ;)
I play at Aero Sports and Hobbies, 182nd and Glisan
and at A-Main raceway ... WAAAAY up in Vancouver. You take the last exit before I5 and I205 come together (going North) and turn left at the exit. Cross over 99, I5, and continue on. It is right accross the street from a popular cart racing place. Sorry, but I do not know the address.
TEAMTED, Thanks for the compliments. I have been driving RC cars for a while, so I get around ;). The car seems faster on the video than it is in real life, to be honest. But the video has not been sped up or anything (I do not even know how !). PLus, I did put 2 videos in there where I crash ... so I am not THAT good !

Dude, that is SO sweet! I know we all wish we had a cool track like that close to our homes, or in our backyards.
The grass is funky, but it looks like you've got PLENTY of grip, which is nice. Did anyone say you're quite a talented and fast driver? Holy crap, DEWD! :D
Now all you need is some jumps to make it even more fun (not that the layout is lacking, because it isn't). Keep us posted!

jeep, i have a few questions...
1) What tools did you need?
2) What are the barriers made of, where do you get that stuff, and how much does it cost.
3) How much was the whole project and how long did it take???
PS> Have you driven nitro on that track, if so, how was it. What about 1/8th??

Hey Teamted, I live right in dorchester, that is close to mattapan.milton border. My sister has a house down there right around the elementry school when you first enter milton. Maybe we can hook up one day and do something eh? :)

Nice jeep, good driving too. As was asked, where and how much for that tubing, and how much did you use of it?

TEAMTED,
Here is the low down:
1) Track size: 75x90x75x28 (ya, weird size)
2) There was very deep grass on back straight and almost no grass closer to the camera.
3) The first thing we did was mow it 14 times, getting lower and lower each time.
4) Then we sprayed it with Round-Up, 3 sessions, 1 entire bottle at $18 (we bought another bottle for future maintenance)
5) I had the layout all designed (used graph paper). Since there were no right angles, it was a serious trick to get the shape on the graph paper. I had to break out every trick I could remember from High School (and a compass).
6) I bought a 10 foot piece of 1/2" ABS pipe and cut it to 8 feet long to use as a lane width checker.
7) We Pounded stakes around the perimeter and double checked lengths against the layout I had on the graph paper (and changed the actual track to match, but I was off by only inches! (luck ?))
8) We then drove stakes at all "hinge points" (anywhere a tube would end or turn). We then connected all the stakes with string to get an idea how it would look, and so we would have something to align the tube with. (stakes and string were like $20)
9) We bought 500 feet of 5" diameter corrugated drainage pipe. This stuff is about $30 per 100 foot roll.
10) Following the plan, and tweaking where necessary, we laid out the tube and drove spikes through it to secure it to the ground. We ended up using 94 stakes ! At the head end of the stake we placed a washer to keep if from going through the tube (and to secure it better). The spikes are about 10" long. The spikes/washers cost about $35. The spikes are galvenized.
11) We ripped the roof off of an old (and big) Dog house, places 2x6's accross the hole, added cross bracing, and placed plywood on the top. All this for a cheap driver's stand :p zero cost, as we already had the stuff
12) I bought 20 concrete blocks to build tabletop jumps with (using plywood accross top to save dirt, but it will all be covered with dirt). The blocks were $22.
The grand total thus far is roughly $250.
But, we have a $100 load of dirt arriving early next week (10 yards). SO it will probably end up being ~$400 when all is said and done.
You can do it for much less, however.
EDIT: Oh ya, tools ...
1) Shovel
2) Sprayer
3) Beer
4) Skillsaw
5) Leatherman
6) Sledge Hammer
7) BIG lawn mower (John Deer :p )
8) Small lawn mower
9) Beer
10) Hammer
11) Pickaxe
12) Rake
13) Beer

hey jeep, what player does it use. It obviously doesnt use quicktime.

Dude, the files are quicktime format (*.mov). What player it uses depends on what your computer has set as the default Quicktime plug-in for your browser. The answer lies in your computer, and there are many possibilities.

I had that problem, too. As Jeep said earlier, right click and hit "Save Target As" to download the video to your hard drive. Then just go into Windows Explorer and double-click the file to play it.
