Running a nitro 4-tec, and having some problems with front tire wear. I just put on a set of pro-line s2 road rage tires, and within 3 tanks of gas, the fronts looked like slicks. they were completely bald, but the rears showed a minimum of tire wear (what could be expected as normal).
I am running on a fairly dirty parking lot, asphalt, with semi large rocks in it, so I know I will get some rapid wear, but this is extreme. Plus the backs are good, the fronts are shot. Best I can figure is under braking, the car is forcing its weight to apply the most pressure to the front tires. That, or somehow Im spotting only my front tires. Does anyone agree? How can I fix this? Any other opinions are appriciated.

Actually, with ProLine's S-compound tires, that is pretty normal. They don't show wear on surfaces where they don't work, but when they do, they go away very quickly, even S2's. I've even seen a pair of S3's wear through to the liner in ONE run(on my car, in fact). That's why I don't mess with those anymore, I'd rather give up a bit of grip for much better wear, like Losi's Yellow compound delivers..... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Me again (different screen name-work)
So this is standard? Do most tires wear out the front before the rears? It seems like a suspension setup. Why the backs would stay new and the fronts be bald after three tanks still seems weird.
I will switch tires when I get some more, does anyone recommend long lasting tires, other than the losi's?

I'd have to say that your front diff is doing all the work, the car is acting primarily like it is front wheel drive, causing the front wheels to spin like mad trying to pull the weight of a 4wd car.
I'd try tightening the rear diff, so that it is laying down power too.

That is a very good possibility, I'd definitely check your rear diff for slipping.

Thanks for the feedback. I checked the rear belt, and per the manual, it looked like it was good (within the 26mm bend) but i took the rear end apart, and tightened the back end. I hope I didnt make it too tight, there is no slack now. In fact, its really tight.
This makes a some sense, as i did put in the spacers to tighten up the front and middle belts, and maybe that affected the rear end. The reason I come to this conclusion is that this is about the time tire wear in the front became a problem. But the strange thing is, that there is no tire burn, no slipping, no "peeling out" from the front end. But I will give it a run tomorrow, and push it a little. I am still assuming that in a four wheel drive car, tire wear SHOULD be the same, if suspension is set up properly. Thanks for everyones help. Hope the rear diff kicks in.
