I may be building an offroad track in my yard soon and I'm wondering what the best material to use for barriers is as far as cost, durability, and the ability to keep my truck from breaking into a million pieces are concerned. Thanks!

We use the Black Corrigated Drain Pipe, 3" to 4" diameter works best. You can buy it in 10' to 500' lengths at places like Home Depot. Best part is its flexable so you can easily follow turns and change the tracks layout anytime you please, plus if you run into it, chances are you won't break any parts! LOL Cost wise, it was cheaper then PVC pipe or lumber. :D

Yeah, the black pipe works great. I bought 300 feet for $30. To hold them in, I bought nails about the length of railroad spikes, and they hold really well.

If you have plenty of room do what I did & cut the track into the lawn. The dirt will end up 2 or 3 inches lower than the grass thereby creating a soft barrier, plus it looks good. If you want to have a changable layout on an area of bare dirt then the corrugated flex pipe is good-you have to attach it to the dirt somehow.

I didnt really read it, but i heard its off road. BUT, for anyone that reads this that wants to make an on-road track and needs barrier advise: Black Corrigated Drain pipe about 4-5". For the turns, get some flexible lexan. They had this at leisure hours and i dont think anyone broke because of a track wall.

Thanks guys! I'll pry go the extra cheap route and cut it into the lawn cause one of the stipulations of this actually happening is that it has to look "clean."

Wish we could use NERF. It would be alot easier on the cars.
