I have been out of the driving aspect of R/C for a couple years. I only have Ni-Cd batteries and i'm going to purchase new Ni-MH cells to get back into driving.

I'm wondering if I can use my current Integy 16x2 Ni-Cd charger on the new 3300 Ni-MH cells? According to their website, they have a updated version of the 16x2 charger(16x3) that is Ni-MH compatible.

If you have a 16x2 that has the v.2.5 software on it, then yes it compatible. The 2.5 has a total of 6 modes, and the regular 2 has only 4 modes, so that should tell you.

I have the 16x2 Pro with a v.2.5 software, so mine will charge NiMh.

You can upgrade, Integy will give you credit for your old unit if you purchase a new charger from them and send in your old one.

Thanks for the info, that is very helpful. After taking a closer look at my charger, it only has 4 modes on it, so I guess it would not be a good idea to charge the Ni-MH cells.

I'll have to contact Integy to see about an upgrade.

Against all good sense, I'm going to say, that you can charge any nickel battery with most any charger, as long as you pay careful attention to the heat of the pack. I still charge my NiMh's using delta-peak, none of my packs have blown up, you will just need to be extra careful until you get a charger "made" for this sort of pack.
