I have a project here where I am interfacing a cheap Nikko RC car to the computer, which can be controlled remotely through the internet. There will also be live, streaming video, too. What do you people think? Cool? Stupid?
Right now I have the programming part almost done, and have a few things hooked up to the computer through the parallel port now.
I have a light hooked up to the computer right now that can be turned on and turned off by going here:
http://70.146.25.59/cgi-bin/on.cgi
http://70.146.25.59/cgi-bin/off.cgi
It says error right now, but it still works.
If anybody would like to contribute with an old, cheap RC car, a camera, or programming help, that would be nice, cause I don't have many resources, hehe.

I guess. I've seen it turn and off a few times.
Right now I need to get 1. RC car, 2. Wireless camera 3. Capture card
A friend might give me an RC car, I just ordered a capture card, and the camera is what's left, and the most expensive part. The problem with the cheaper ones is that they are not good in low-light conditions(Indoors), but that's all I got money for. Maybe here somebody got any security cameras or anything like that? Doesn't have to be wireless. Or wireless ones?
The hardest part was the programming, but that looks good now.

Sounds interesting, I'll be curious when you get more going.

I now have the car all hooked up. Waiting for the wireless camera now and going to improve the programming.

Hey, just wanted to show you this site, they make this micro RC tank, and a camera that hooks up to it. They also have software that interfaces with it. It's a toyish site, but they have a demo of what you're trying to achieve: http://www.plantraco.com/telecommander.html
Their camera for sale seems like a good choice to stick onto the car. Not sure of the range though. I've seen better stuff somewhere else but I forget the site.

Yeah, I see, I see. But what they want is a little too much. If I am right, they want $214 for everything. Rover + camera + cable/software.
Na, their camera is too much. I'm getting mine for $35 total on Ebay.
I know I'm not the first one to do this :) , but it is fun.
