Ok when I have the E_Z start pluged into the back of my car if the light is not on does that mean my glow plug is fried???
Just wondering.
Oh ya who else has fried a plug during break in ? before you got the engine running?

No the light does not mean that the plug is bad. The plug only heats up when you push the starter button. The E-Z start system can burn plugs as fast as you hit the button. The system needs some improvements to say the least.
I and my daughter has 7 Traxxas R/Cs and before they were ever taken out of the box I bought pull starters for them.
To save alot of headaches you can get a glow plug heater such as Hobbico Hot Shot II. And unplug the light blue wire going to the plug. Use the plug heater to heat the plug and the starter to turn the engine over.
When breaking in a new engine you will have plugs that will go bad. The minute particles that are shaved from the cylinder and piston get depoisted on the plugs and build up causing burn outs. I have had engines to burn up 4 or 5 plugs before breaking in. Once broken in and if using Traxxas Med plugs you will enjoy long plug life if you keep the carb tuned and run good clean fuel.
Good luck

Unlike some people I have never had any problems with my EZ Start system. But then I never try starting flooded engines and I don't let it spin for more than five seconds like the instructions say.

I've never seen an EZ blow a plug.

Most of the time it has problems getting the plug hot enough if anything.

But I'll take the EZ over yanking my arm numb any day.

Your're right on HPIGUY. I haven't had any problems with any of my EZ Starts either. I just press the button and my cars start. Flooding is the worst thing you can do to the EZ Start with using an undercharged battery second worst.

The only problems i've had with it is sometimes it doesn't get the glow plug warm enough.

i like p/s engines better than electic start. i like it for the smae reason i want a 5spd im my car rather than auto, i can 't explain why though it just seems cooler, ne 1 agree with me?

Actually when newbies stop by and watch they think that an electric start on an R/C car is just awesome.

I like it because I'm lazy, and this is supposed to be a hobby. I'm trying to relax.

Not that I'm against p/s or bump starters, I just like my EZ start.

Crash,
As you see there are a variety of "experts" on any given subject- all who have failed to answer your original question. The light on the EZ start only comes on when you push the button with it plugged in. If it does not come on, the plug IS bad- This isn't fool-proof because a plug can fail and the light still illuminate. It's normal to lose a plug during break-in as specified in the instructions. Never over prime the engine- only til the fuel reaches the carb. If you suspect a bad plug, remove it, reattach the blue glow wire and cycle the starter holding the plug against the head to ground it. If the outer most coil isn't glowing, chuck the plug. The rec's for Traxxas plugs is right on, or you can substitute McCoy /Dynamite MC59 or OS A3 for overall performance vs. cost of plug.

The only operational problems with the EZ-start (aside from the plug wire connection) can be traced to the person pushing the button -period.

Bob, you are so right. The EZ Start is pretty fool proof if you use it right. I always charge a fresh stick pack everytime I go out and I never have a starting problem. My Nitro Rustler and 4-Tec start on the first push of the button every time. I have had both cars about 7 months and no problems yet. OOPS, I take that back, I replaced the one way bearing on my 4-Tec about a month ago. Other than that though, they run great.
