I am a newbie and I am thinking about getting a new car (probably electric). Which company do you recommend I should buy from? HPI? Tamiya? Kyosho?

What type were you loking for? Touring car, buggy, truck, moster truck? It makes a big difference. All the companies you mentioned make good cars, but depending on what type you want you may choose one manufacturer over another.

If you are talking Electric Off-road(1/10)...I like Associated.

If you're talking Nitro Off-road (1/8)....I am a Kyosho guy.

I agree with Digex, it all depends on what you want.

Associated makes a car called the TC-3, which is immensely popular. You also have offerings from HPI (RS4-Pro3), X-Ray, Kyosho, Losi, Schumacher and Serpent just to name a few. These would all be good cars for a beginner (except maybe the X-ray, I think that's a little more advanced). Just make sure your hobby store stocks a good supply of parts for whatever car you get or you'll be in "Special-Order Limbo" forever.
