Just bought a new shell for my Savage. Im thinking about a unusual look, not flashy. Is there anyway to dull the finish without painting from the outside? I would like a dull flat black look. Something that you would see on an average day going down the dirt road in West Virginia. Im from WV so dont think im putting anyone down.

If you want a flat black look, you'll have to dull the shiny exterior surface of the Lexan. I saw a "realistic" stock car body (the homegrown dirt oval cars, not NASCAR) that had the lexan sanded in places to model the quick touchups these cars invariably get after a bump. I think if you masked the exteriors of the window and went over the rest with some 600 grit or such sandpaper, you'd get pretty close to what you wanted. The caveat is that if you want a design painted underneath to look shinier and thus don't sand over it, you may see the depth of the lexan at an angle.
