I have a stampede with the stock stinger motor traxxas uses in their electric vehicles. I want to upgrade to a trinity 19 turn chameleon, but isn't the stinger 20 turns? Would that be much of an upgade?
Changing motors means i have to buy a new esc becuz it came stock with a mechanical speed control, but i dont want to buy a new esc if its not even going to make a difference.
I know i should forget both and go brushless, buts thats out of my budget :(

Yeah, man. Brushless rules. Maybe you should just save for it, like I did. Anyway, the stinger isn't all that great of a motor, so it should be a little better. And an ESC WILL make a difference when you are not going full throttle. When you aren't going full throttle with the MSC, the power is wasted and you get less runtime. Not so with an ESC. An ESC also gives you way more throttle steps.

yeah the 19t should be alot faster. 20 to 19 turn isnt much of a difference but its the quality that counts.

go for either a speed gem pro arcornite 19x1 or epic intense 19x1.this way you have adjustable timing and big p-94 brushes.hold on the brushes thing until you can comfortably say i can read my rc inside outto if soem isnt running right i know what to look for.cause ill tell you from prev owning a novak 5800 is that a bl system brings glitching and other problems.
I would go with the Reedy 19T Quad Mag. Its probably the fast 19 turn motor out there at this time. Also, with a truck, you want a motor that makes great torque. The Orion Element / Peak Dynasty ( same motors, different sticker ) also make great torque.
As I run 4wd which is torque intensive, I also have the Reedy 19T in my pit box just in case the track gets torn up and I want something that has controllable speed but still the power to hang in the infield. Other than the straights, the Reedy doesn't give up much to full blow mods on the tight sections. Great motor.

The Cham. 2 is a little faster than the Reedy actually, but the Quad mag has a little more torque.
You will notice a big difference if you upgrade to a 19t, trust me.
If you mean the chameleon has more RPM, that is true, but RPM is only half the equation.
