Is there any way to put some 1/8th scale buggy tires onto a T3? I could probably custom mull som hex adapters if I had to, but what would I do about the front?

Maybe you could use an HPI hex adapter thingy. Your best bet would be to ask Toyotago since he put 1/8 wheels/tires on his RC10GT, which has a similar roll pin on the axels (1/4" or 3/16" not exactly sure, depends on the model.) He should be able to help you out.

It worked for me on some Kyosho truck stuff ...
The Aluminum hex hubs are pretty easy to lathe if you have the tooling
That said, 1:8 wheels work great : They're extremely light, efficient at +60kph and good handling !!

How does a normal 1/8th hex fit onto the axle, is a buggy's axle just a smaller hex or do they use pins?

I think the hex itself is one piece with the axel, and then another hex bolt holds on the wheel. I think your best bet is to ask Toyo bout it, or see if you can create an adapter yourself.
