... (as the cigar chomping leader of the A-Team), I love it when a plan comes together. :D :D :D Between switching to surface drive, moving the CG back, and my bottom mods, my Dumas Scarab is handing excellent now, and I believe the speeds will increase even more when I get to trying some different (new to me) props. Currently running a brass 270 Prather that's been thinned, sharpened, and balanced to the best of my equipment. I've got a SS 275 that's been thinned, sharpened, tips rounded, and hopefully a little cupping (depends on how brave I get), and a brass 280 to try as well. I may even throw on a Prop Shop7016 just for kicks to see what happens. It looks to have been thinned a little, sharpened, and cupped. I need to get a 1/4" propshaft to be able to use them, so that won't happen for a week or two. The one my Scarab came with is 1/4", but necks down to 3/16" just past the strut. I wish I had some running pics, but I gotta get a new compact flash card to be able to D/L pics from my camera. :( Soon it will be time for some more power mods to the motor. ;)

Thanks. :) I did the $2.00 Muffler (http://www.ibuyrc.com/muffler.htm) Saturday, and man was that one of the best 1/2 hours I've spent. I can't afford a muffler right now, (or a manifold/header/tuned pipe either) I made a dry header at the shop, and I'm using the chamber/tuned pipe from my K&B 11cc. Last time I was at my little testing/fun pond (really a retention pond for the development I live in), one of the neighbors complained to me about the noise, and asked me if I could quiet my boat down, so I've been hesitant to go back till I'd gotten some kind of muffler. There is a Homeowner's Association here, and I didn't want them to make it against the rules to run RC boats here. So this muffler was just the ticket to get me by for a while. I had to eat a can of mushroom soup, but I was in the mood for a little snack anyway, and I just happened to have about 2' of 1/2" copper tube laying around from a plumbing repair a while back. This muffler is nice and quiet, in fact the vibration of the hull is louder at an idle than the exhaust note. The motor seems to rev quicker too. :D Then somebody posted this link Homemade Muffler (http://www.modelgasboats.com/Home/Archives/June_2002_Issue/062002_Homemade_Muffler/062002_homemade_muffler.html) . Gotta try that one next, it's much better looking, but may not be as quiet. Time will tell. I'll have both in my arsenal now anyway.
