Hey I bought a Tamiya Hummer off of ebay.com recently. The first thing I did was put in a frsh battery. The first thing it did is nothing. It sounded like my gears were stripped but when I took the gearbox apart no missing teeth nothing. I dont know what it was.The man said it didnt affect perfomance...My *** It did too. I cant even hit reverse!!! Then I took it completely apart and cleaned every last screw. Still no gear teeth missing. I need help!!!!!! I even converted it to 2wd to stop the noise but it didnt help. Then I lost one of the dogbone connector joints. Now I cant drive it anyway!!(ill soon go to Tower for that http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)
Thanx for all help http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Make sure you tighten the screws on top of the gear box, because when you give it throttle it might pop up and down. It also might be the dogbones, check those well, they could be lose or popping out. If that doesn't help, take apart both gear boxes and check all the gears to make sure no little pepple or somethig is caught between 2 teeth.

ok i found it it said http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/frown.gifyour name) on of the neat things about the tamiya hummer is that it is based on the ta-01 and -02 series chassis. That means that it is simple and ultra reliable, and if you follow the diagram in the manual, it is pretty hard to mess up the gears. Start by making sure that you have the motor screws in the correct holes for the pinion and spur gears that are installed in the gear box. If they're correct, make sure that the pinion isnt grinding away at the interior gearbox wall. You can also check this visually by taking off the upper gearbox hatch to see whether the pinion is hitting the gear case with the motor installed. If everything looks OK there, pull the diffs out (they're easily accesable by removing a few screws) and see if a small stone or a plastic particle has fouled the gears. Even a tiny piece of grit can cause a lot of noise. (end of post)
hot that helps i hope you get them hpi rims mounted too that'll make the hummer look soo cool.

I have a Hummer and I have a lot of fun with it except that the Rear Differential seems to slip and loosen alot. Also is this thing supposed to be real all the time 4 wheel drive. When say the left front wheel comes off the ground on a hill it will free spin in the air and the other wheel stops driving. The same seems to be true of the rear, so I get stuck alot. Is there a way to lock the wheels together when the rear stays tight it seems to be OK, but the front is bad.

i dont have front wheel drive. I took it out until i could get a new drive shaft. The trucks gears may be hitting the top of the gear box. It moves and goes pretty fast but i havent driven it much(only 4 times since yesterday) Im also goin to get a 17turn motor what would be the gearing??? It has a 16 tooth pinion. If i decide to go 19turn how would i gear that???
