I see amazing paintjobs of people and stuff, like Seb's work, and I could never figure out how they masked up their cars. Like where do they cut it? I'm not good at freehand airbrushing so I will need to rely on masks for help. Thanks for looking.

On a fancy design...I will spend 80% + of the time in prep...cleaning the top, tape masking...maybe some liquid masking..and alot of exacto work. If I keep my airbrush clean...spraying is the easy part.

If you're looking for help in painting, of course there's Haunted Myst's Paint Guide (http://www.rctech.net/articles/painting_hauntedmyst.shtml) to help you out. If you're wondering about time spent, most of my time spent on a body is design and cutting out the masking. Painting is the easy part.

If you want practice, go down to your hardware store and pick up a piece of plexiglass for a couple of bucks. Practice painting on that. When done, a good soak in a cleaner and you're ready to practice some more.

Piggy is right, that's what I do and I love it. I can mask off and 8 by 10 piece of plastic draw a design on it, cut it out and paint it all in one sitting. It's also a great way to test colors and see what they're Really going to look like.

Thanks for all the help guys! I'll be sure to apply these methods. I see a lot of people using markers on the outisde of their bodies. What kind of marker? How do you erase it?

Most of the new bodies have a protective plastic covering to avoid overspray....great to draw on with a sharpie. The best black pen I have used is a Panel Line pen from Top Flight...nice opaque black line. Good for detailing the door lines when you are done too.

And if you happen to get a lexan body without the protective cover...you can still use the sharpie for your design and remove with rubbing alcohol when you are done. Don't use thinner or it will blur the lexan.
