Is this worth the extra 5 bucks on Associated shocks? What is coated: the shaft, body, or both?
Does it make them last longer?

The shock body's are coated. The shocks do last longer

If teflon doesn't stick to anything, then how can something be coated in teflon? http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

PTFE (Teflon) is a good idea... but what about when it wears off? It WILL wear off one day. So, where's the big advantage?

The big advantage, if it is all that big, is on the inside of the body.
It makes for less friction between the piston and body. It does wear off. A set of shock bodies will last approximately 6mo. of weekly racing. Underneath the teflon is a hard anodized surface. That takes a long while to wear off.
It is worth the money in my opinion. But I have never ran a car unless it was sitting on a race track, so what does that tell you?
See ya....

Pots and pans are coated in it also.
