I know a lot of people who run LRP's, and I use a few myself, and have never heard of them mysteriously blowing up. Maybe you're overgearing or something?

I had an LRP digital. It blew up. It was CRAP! moved to NOVAK and never looked back!

Novak IS THE BEST!!! They don't have as big of a selection, but they don't need it. What they produce is top notch and they keep their customers happy. I just bought a Novak Reactor that has been out of production for about 3.5-4 years and Novak said they would still repair it for me if I ever needed them to. THAT is service. Most companies wont do this for older speed controls. Their ESC's are just like the energizer bunny, they keep going, and going, and going, and going! Great things come in orange boxes. NOVAK FOREVER!!!

Hmmm, just the opposite here. Never had any problem with lrp-still running an old Runner rev. WAY overgeared on 8.4 vlts, works fine. Had a $115 novak charger die in 2 weeks, Super Rooster mysteriously give up in less than a month, and my Atom has been in for service 3 times now.

Maybe I'm just lucky :)

The most common cause of an ESC blowing up is the user. LRP is backed by Associated and comes with a lifetime warranty. I'm pretty sure within 90 days and you'll get a new one.

I'm guessing that you haven't sent it back and jsut resorted to bashing something that probably wasn't the ESCs fault. Please contact AE. Also, you haven't posted anything that happened while you were running it. What motor, gearing, battery, and conditions (AKA did you run it in water or short it out).

I'd say most of the name brand ESCs out there are excellent. So to hear bad luck in multiple cases and instances I suspect there's a bigger problem.

yeah novak is a great company, i use a dynamite and a motor that is four turns lower then its rated, and it still works

Blue coating of cases is really weak. I'have a brand new IPC Pro sport and when i took the esc out of my xxx, the coating stayed on the tape (lrp tape)

I've run both novak and LRP stuff. Needless to say, both are excellent. My LRP runner has held up in a boat geared god knows how high on 7 cells, and my IPC pro has held up on 7 cells running 13x3 overgeared in a rusty without its heatsinks on. Then my Novak SS 5800 runs great. No problems whatsoever, only thermaled once when it was about 90+ degrees out. And finally my novak fusion. Awesome ESC until I fried it (running through water by accident). So yup, no complaints here!:D

I have had both Novak, and lrp speedos. Novak dually never quit, I had to sell it becuase my driving never killed it, and my cyclone went up in smoke, and Novak wouldnt replace it for their 45$ fee for some reason. It has the PuRpLe Lable or something. LRP's have died on me too. Bought a used V6 from Jamie zadnick, and it went up in smoke withing the first 3 months I had it. Bought another one from someone for cheap, and it too went up in smoke the same amount of time. But now I run Tekin all around as They stand behind their products 100% Also helps when you know the owner, and you race for them, but even before I joined the team, when they were out of buisness, My G-10 and recievers still kept crankin. So, its All Tekin All The Time for Me.

Let's see here, if I'm reading your post correctly you have fryed 6 ecss and you are blaming lrp for making a bad product. Sounds like it's user error and not the product.

Not much snow at all is too much without wrapping the ESC in a balloon or a ziplock or something... I dont know when people are going to *BEGIN* to understand that if you get ESC's wet AT ALL they will stop working... and its true people just usually blame the company or some other factor that has nothing to do with operator error...Hey always_opencarb, was it you that started the thread 'energizer=bad'? or was it 'duracell=bad'? I cant remember which... what do you have that = good?? ;)

and yeah, i know, 'waterproof' Its a gimmick.. I dont care if my ESC was triple dipped in poly... I'd still put 'in' something to keep it from getting wet.. Theres a lot of electricity going thru those things, and you can never be 100% sure something is waterproof, you can only take your chances.. I can understand having read the part where you stated its SUPPOSED to be waterproof where you'd be a little pissed off. I would be too.. But it sounds like they are trying to do all that they can and are at least standing behind their product.

My fellow racer tried that with his truck, and ran it in a misty weather, and the esc was wrapped in a ballon.....guess what. The baloon was melted to the esc. Kinda funny to see a pink esc!!! :D
