IR releases light you can't see, but video cameras can see its light.

Nope dont see much use for them to you. Infrared lights rays have an increasing frequency of about 1mm from wave to wave to 750nm wave to wave. Where as visible light starts at 750nm and goes to 400nm in wavelength so its just below the visble range of the human eye, but as Combatcm said, video cameras can see them.

Specializer, hook them up to a battery, turn off the lights and break out the camcorder. You'll be able to see just how bright they are. Not all video cameras can see them, it depends upon their sensitivity to certain light wavelengths. If your video camera works with them, it's a neat trick to show your friends and family.

thats exactly what ill do piggy, i took off leds from my slot car (front = xenon color, rear = red) so now i can turn them on or off with my 3rd channel and the rear lights work by kucheg's design..it looks really cool..even my parents don't think its stupid...will a digi cam see the ir leds? it has a video mode and it can record videos up to 30 seconds long...its a goid one too

Specializer, best way to find out, look through your digicam at the tip of your tv remote. Push any button (and hold it) and see if you see the IR LED on your tv remote blinking at you. If you can see it in the digicam, than you'll be able to see the ones you bought.

lol whoa thats cool man, ive seen some IR led's through a camera but never any that bright. I know my sister's sony Hi-8 camcorder has a nightvision mode thats assisted by a really bright led emitter just below the lens. Its really bright also, so bright in fact that you can see some red light being emitted as well but with it on ive been able to zoom in on car tags over 100 yard away in pitch black and read them since theyre reflective it looks like theyve got a huge light on them through the screen.

Specializer, bet ya didn't realize that tv remotes pulse out the signal instead of a steady light. Guess it's time for you to hook the LED's and get some good camera time.
