I have a nimh 2300mah reciever pack for my T-maxx and a 1700 mah nicad pack for my ezstart. Are there any smart/quick chargers out there that can handle charging both types of batteries? Does radio shack of these type of chargers????? The chargers that I have now take too dang long to charge up. My ez start battery charger takes 6 hours and the reciever pack charger takes 24 hours.

so you basically need a charger that will charge both nimh and nicd.. there's alot of them out there in the market.. pending on how much you wanna spend.. i have one that does the job and didn't cost me a boat load of cash.. MRC Super Brain 959. it charges most of my batteries in minutes not hours.. :D good luck..

its polular cuz of the price, its ac/dc and its been a round for a while now w/ very little problems... its not the best but its good enough to charge Rx packs..

not sure where the cheapest is, but places like Towers have it for under $45...

Many people have had issues with the 959 false-peaking, especially on high-capacity packs like GP3300's.

I have teh same mix of batts and a good chager for me has been the Piranha digital peak charger. Been using it for 16months with no probs. Will handle NiCds and NiMhs. I have a 2300tx pack, several 5cell rx packs and keep 2 7.2 stickpacs up with it. Also charges my digicams rechargeable AAs (using a 4 cell AA holder).

not with high capacity batteries but rather with charging at high amps, under 3,5A it goes great, but hickups on 4-4,5A, but after false peaking it only takes push button to start it again, and it will charge fully second time

2300 mah reciever pack eh? Does anyone besides me see something wrong w/ this?

If you're running 2300 mah worth of "reciever pack" then I'm just gonna take a stab in the dark and say you put rechargable AA's in your 4-cell holder. See here's the thing...Alkaline AA's are 1.5 volts a cell. 1.5 X 4 = 6 volts. However, rechargable cells are only 1.2 volts a cell. That's why reciver packs are all 5 cell packs. 1.2 X 5 = 6 volts. When you're only running 4 rechargable cells, you're starting out at only 4.8 volts. When those cells start to die they're gonna drop in voltage, quite possibly going below the voltage cutoff point for the Rx, meaning your truck runs away. Rechargable AA's are great for transmitters, but you never ever want to run them in your truck. Reciever packs are the only way to go. More power from your servos, cheaper than lotza AA's, and w/ a charging jack, you don't have to ever pull it out of the truck again.

As for the charger, I'd say the Dynamite Prophet Plus. For 40 bux it's a great little charger. Adjustable charge rate, peak detection, and ridiculous ease of use, plus a low price means it's perfect.

If you're looking for something a little more advanced, the Duratrax Pirahna Digital is a great charger. I'd reccomend it over the MRC Superbrain 959. I've heard good things about the Superbrain, but I've also heard that it has overheating problems. It's also 5 bux more than the Duratrax. I've had that Pirahna Digital for over 2 years now and never had a single problem with it. It's rock solid, and hands down the best charger in it's price range IMO.

One other comment - the 959 is hard wired with a tamiya connector. Everything you're going to charge has to be rigged up to that tamiya connector. With the Piranha, at least you can put any end on charger that you want or need to. Lot easier to charge batts with connectors other than a tamiya.
