I had painted a 57'chevy pick up body about two years ago just before I moved, and I've only now gotten my R/C stuff out of storage. The body still had the masking tape over the windows. When I peeled the tape off, it left a thick sticky film that looked horrid. Dose any one know what will take this off with out removing the paint.

Sorry you'll probably have to take the paint off as well. Rubbing alcohol coupled with elbow grease is good for removing that sticky stuff your talking about. If it ruins the paint than you can safely remove all of the paint using charcoal lighter fluid and start over. If the paint job took you a long time then you could just put some window tint on the outside of the windows. Next time try using liquid masking. I tried it for the first time and it works great. If you do use it just be carefull not to press to hard with your exacto knife while trimming it. It'll stratch the lexan.

Use paint thinner (not laquer thinner!). Soak the tip of a paper towel & rub the residue off try not to get any thinner on the paint as it will eventually soften.
Before you try any of that stuff, let me say some stuff. It wasnt really the mask's fault, if you leave it on for too long, it will bond and wont want to come off. When you pull it, only the half that wasnt attached comes of. This looks horrific (stupid 69cent masking tape) and a little labor and no risk to the paint will help get it off.
Go to Walgreens or some store and get some rubbing alcohol. Put some on a paper towel tip and just keep rubbing and rubbing making sure the paper towel is always wet with rubbing alcohol. The tape will start to come off rolled up in small pieces. Just wipe that off with water, or pull them off. Thios worked reeeeealllly well for me.
This wont make your paint job ruined by stripping the paint off, but it will just take off the mask. Whats bad about paint thinner is that if any paint were to come off and you want to spray it to cover the clear spot, it wont stick no matter how long after. Thats because paint thiner just stick to whatever it touches and wont come off with anything.

I agree with JP, 100%. Rubbing alcohol will provide much better results, but it will require more rubbing. Just be careful not to get it on the paint.

Rubbing Alcohol wont hurt the paint, unless you rub off the paint, which will be pretty hard. They dont call it Rubbing Alcohol for nothing!
