Okay, so I dropped a new fifteen double turn mod motor into my traxxas bandit the other day. I was driving it around this morning and all of a sudden my motor stopped working. At first i thought it was the esc because it is rated for 16, but generally i can run a two turns below the advertised saftey limit. So i took the esc out and switched it up and low and behold the motor did not work still, I checked for clutter in the brushes and all the wiring connections and they seemed solid, some of the solder points did seem gray and not shiny though. In anybody's opinion do you think my motor just failed for some strange reason, for this has never happened to me, or do you think there is just a bad connection and i should resolder the capcitors and leads to the motor?

If the motor just stopped working then most likely it is something to do with the brushes. Are you sure the brushes are touching the comm? Check to see if the motor springs are still there and if they have good tension on the brushes.

Hahah, yeah, i am not a noob, this is my forth beater car, its rather unusual for a motor that has only been run in my dorm and out in the parking lot, the comm and brushes are clean. I think i am just going to put some new capcitors on and resolder the leads and hope it does the trick

The caps aren't going to stop it from running. I really didn't intend my post to make you look stupid but I have seen motor springs break before and is definately something you might overlook.

Disasemble the motor- the magnet may have picked up a piece of metal. Happens to me when I race sometimes even. Disasemble and clean it anyway, it just might work.

Curious as to what ESC you have as well as the gearing. Go down a few teeth for a more powerfull motor too. Stuff I didn't know when I started out :o

Hey yeah, I actually did that right before i read your post, and lo and behold, some metal was jammed all up in there and gunking stuff up, its all clean and running now yay!!!, as for my car, its just a beater i keep here in the dorm with me. Its a traxxas bandit, just running a fireball15 and a dynamite tazer, pretty cheap stuff that i picked up because the local hobby store is shutting down fifty percent off, who can resist, i am picking up a real car to keep here at college with me at the end of the week. And you may ask yourself, a traxxas bandit doesnt that comes with....no, i got the kit version because i love building the cars. ohh and the gear ratio, way out of proportion, due to A. beater car, and B. it has been insanely cold lately, so I can run a really high pinion and low spur and made the bandit go ridiculously fast, fast enough to jump over some bushes......

Good to hear you found the problem. I'm in college too and I don't consider myself a youngin. :D
