I have two sanyo 3000mAh Ni-MH packs, once of which has 2 dead cells, and the other has just one. So i want to use the 9 remaining cells to make up a practice pack for my brother, who is only a bashing with my old car and some ancient 1500 Nicads.
- but i dont know which 6 of 9 to use!
- What tests can i do with only a mulimeter, charger and a set of lights (dont have a discharge tray yet)
thanks, daniel

How do you know 2 are dead in one pack and 1 is dead in the other? Usually with dead cell when you charge the pack those cells will get very hot.

Yeah, thats what it is.
- the three damaged cells get much too hot, and get upto about 3v when on charge.
So i know there nackered, i just wanna now which are the best out of the remianing cells, becuase i only need 6 of the 9 (ie 3 of the "good" cells arnt needed) and i want to know which 3 out of the "good nine" are the worst.

No, they're not a match pack

If they aren't matched packs and the other cells don't get overly warm then it doesn't matter which ones you choose to make a pack.
