since im new to this hobby i have some questions for everyone. Is a Charger any better than another? I mean its just putting juice in the cells isn't it? So shouldnt any peak charger do? they call cut off at the max right? can someone help me out or maybe point me to a "Power Faq"? thanks

How well your batts perform and last depends on the charger. You wouldnt buy a $30,000 car and run a $100 set of tires on it. Batts are to expensive to ruin with a cheap charger. Ive learned after about 12 to 15 chargers. Buy good and buy once.
Inexpensive chargers usually charge at a lower amp rate so the batts dont get the punch you need for racing. They can also peak at a lower dropback which dosnt fully charge the batts. After a while your batts will get a memory and will not take a full charge. Some have a dropback thats to high so the batts will constantly over charge. This will kill the life of the cells quickly. If your running sport packs in the back yard then the lower end chargers are great and they will save some money. If your running more expensive batts and racing then a higher end charger will actually save you money in the long run. It really depends on what your running.

In this hobby, you usually get what you pay for. If you buy expensive cells, you should invest in a quality charger ( Novak Millenium and a power supply) especially if you use NiMh cells, and a discharger (bulbs and Deans Black box). If you're just bashing or club racing, simple peak chargers (Super Brain 819), less expensive dischargers (Integy Reactor) and sport batteries (sticks) work well.

Pops is right, it really depends on what your running and what your going to do with it. Maybe if you post what you have and what your using it for everyone could give a better idea of what you need.
