Newbie needs brake info

A friend bought two 1/10th scale Tamiya Ferrari 412T1 F1 electric cars (103 chassis) and a pair of Futaba Magnum Junior 2PCKA radios (R122JE receiver and MC210CB speed control). I bought one of the car and radio setups from him and we built them and are learning to drive on parking lots. We may join the local club and run the cars in the stock F1/Indy class indoors.

Our first big question is about brakes. It appears that the only way to get brakes is to use reverse - either with the throttle trigger or to trim the throttle so that some reverse throttle is applied when the trigger is released.

Is there any way to get brakes with this radio and speed control setup without using reverse?

If not, what would the recommended radio and speed control setup be?

Thats basically it. For racing most tracks will require a forward only ESC. With the forward only ESC you will still use the trigger(pushed forward like reverse) to use the brakes but you can get a smoother response without locking up the rear end as easily.
