Just curious here.... Do most of you use packs or throw aways in your transmitters? I have a xxx-t sport II on the way and it comes with the JR XR2i transmitter. I can't seem to find what pack I will need for it.

Neither, I use rechargeable 2400mAh NiMH AA's.

JR uses a funky kind of cartridge. They dont exactly make one that will fit nicely. Try using rechargable AA cells. That will work better.

for 4 years now i use same AA's (800mAh) in a tray, but im thinking about soldering them together to make a pack that will fit nicely, and fill rest of the space with some foam.

I've done it both ways - alkalines to start with - got tired of throwing and replacing them. Then upgraded to better tx which came with tx pack - was only a 700mah NiCd so upgraded that pac to a pac built of 2300 NiMh Sanyos. Now, that tx lasts a long time.

In my other 2 radios, using rechargeable 2200 PowerX NiMh's.

I took some nikko 9.6v packs with tamiya connectors and soldered female connectors to the controller. Fits perfectly.

Geez dude, one use lithium cells get really expensive really fast! IMO, high capacity rechargeable NiMHs is the way to go.

You've got a charger, make use of it!

Are there transmitter packs for the radio that comes with the t-maxx or will I just have to use rechargable AA batteries?

When I bought mine, there were no pacs with the trx TQ radio - they advised you to use alkalines (expendables) - both tx and rx. A lot of people use rechargeable AAs for the tx. If you go over to trx board, a search can find a mod to add a plug-in jack to the tx to make using rechargeables a little easier (if you can handle taking the tx apart to add the wiring). the voltage diff (8 Alkalines @1.5 versus 8 rechargeables at 1.2, 12 vs 9.6v) has been discussed over there a lot and it doesn't seem to make significant diff due to the way the alkalines voltage drops versus the way the rechargeables hold voltage longer. I'm talking rechargeable NiMhs.

When I was still using the stock tx, it did not make any diff that I could tell - just pay attention to the low batt light on the tx and start with good rechargeables.

On an old Hitec I put 8 Nimh 2200 batteries in the tray, then I opened the controller and put another 2 in the handle, and then installed a charging jack. That way I was running 10 cells, or 12 volts as I thought it wanted. However the controller would heat up over a long run. It always seemed to work, but the heat bothered me, I never remembered the controller heating up with 8 alkies in it. Now I'm back to 8 Nimh 2200, and it works great. Charging can be a pain, I have to take the cover off, and use the aligator clips to hook onto the lil battery bars, but them I'm RTR.

I haven't ever had transmetter battery problems since I switched to a 1600mAh NiMH pack. (in an Agressor CRX) It's also a lot cheaper than the alkalines.

Anyone know of a pack that will fit the JR XR2i? It has the charge port on the back side so all i would have to do is grab an adapter for my charger.

Try Team Helotos. I just ordered one for my XS3 Pro.

Nice. Are you able to charge it with that outside port on the transmitter?

To be honest I'm not sure. I got an adapter ordered with mine so I can just charge it off my regular charger. I'm sure that if you had the correct charger for the JR radios you could. I'd be worried about heat from charging the batteries in the radio, but that is just me. Parinoia... isn't it great?!

Using a wall plugin type charger you shouldn't have to worry about heat unless you leave it plugged in for an extended period - like days. Then you would have to worry about them heating up. A wall plugin charger typically only charges at 80 - 160ma which is trickle charge type rates.
