i found a site that sells the Dumas 38 scarab KV for $269. and 276 for the Dumas 38 Scarab. whats the difference between the two? i was wondering if it is a good boat for the price, or if i could find better. i would like a kit that has the hull and everything to make it ready for engine and radio(if possible)
i want a boat with good handling, thats fast(not like racing fast, but enjoyably fast)
would a zenoah 260 be a good choice engine for the boat.
question, is a Cobra 30 cc engine any good?
thanks!

Well, i would have to say No to everyone.
1.) Dumas hulls. I have one its the 38 (i think) 55" long. It will handle a homelite or a stock zen fine, but its a real out of date hull. 260 would be too much engine. Plus they have a nasty hook that needs sanded and filled in the bottom. Dumas makes the worst hardware for boats.
2.) Cobro 30cc - save your money. you can only do so much with a homelite. A brand new engine from home depot is under $70 the cobra is over $225 (buy a zen instead).
Check out Warehouse hobbies - its a great site for begginers. you can get a RTR with everything including support from a reputable owner. for around $799 (nice quality everything)
Also check out Aeromarine
Dumas hull - 276
Dumas Hardware - 105
Engine - $250
Mounts- $45
Radio - $100
Prop $30
Plus quarter scale servo...linkage, fuel system.
You would be paying more for 1/2 the boat.
Just my .02 - Its a great hobby - welcome

i checked out the enforcer boats. to build one buyin all parts from them would be about $1100+. is it worth the money to have a clutch? i really would like to build my own, but being on a limited budget, that probably would be the way i must go.
are the enforcer boats like the super G and super sport, kits or prebuilt?
any opinions on them?

Doubledog may chime in soon.
He has a couple WHH boats. (one is for sale too for around $450)
Clutch is up to you. Plus side you can Idle still (but why) Then you have to have a waterpump and a clutch is one more thing that could go wrong. (although they have gotten better)
Check out jims r/c boat dock in the FAQ section...there is a ton of info on getting started. WHH has many RTR boats, I suggest you call Tony and pick his brain. Tell him you want the Gator or Super G but you would like to assemble it yourself. and what would that cost.
Good luck

I would have to say that a WH boat is WELL worth $800-$1500 (depending on the model). They are GREAT quality, and they are quite fast (although not as fast as the racing boats). I would HIGHLY reccomend them. (proud owner of a Warehouse Hobbies Manta Ray)

I have an older Dumas 55" that I put a QD 35 in. Runs 56 mph all day and handles well for a 25 to 30 lb boat. This hull has seen several motors and ran good with all of them. One before the QD. was an Echo that pushed it in the 40s. Not a race boat but its fun to run.
