You got alot of choices which people considering being the best. The "high end" radios are the m8, proficar 402-707, 3PJFS, 3PJS PCM, R1 and ex-1 mars. I'd suggest you try them all out for the best fit, they all pretty much do the same thing.

All the ones you mentioned are equally fine. It really depends on how comfortable each one feels to you(that's the only real issue). Some people feel best with the M8, while others like the MARS better, but it's all just a matter of taste, not quality. If I were you, I'd try to hold one of each yourself, & see how you like them, then decide which is most comfortable. You won't go wrong with any of them..... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

What the last two guys have said is true, but I like the Multiplex Profi Car radios the best. My 403 is on the way! Go check them out here.

Well, I dunno, I just bought my Profi Car 403 for $160, but that's with a rechargeable battery pack (6 cells, not 8) and without a reciever or servo, but who wants those standard ones anyway? Not me. I'll pick my own servo & reciever. FYI, the Profi Car radios are the only ones that will work with AM AND FM recievers.

but let's face it here.... would you want to be seen on the stand with a profi radio??? those things are real "happy" looking.... LOL.... looks do matter to a certain extent.... and for looks.... i don't think you can beat the R-1 or the MARS SE....

Whatever dude! My Profi radio does NOT look femmy! It is unique and I like it that way. I really like that it has all the whizz-bang features of a computer radio, but it does not have all the extra bulk you get with an M8, Mars, R-1, etc... It's a nice, slim, and light radio and it does rock.

Profi Car radios are the only ones that will work with AM AND FM receivers

That is a nice feature. I'd be able to use all of those old AM's I have lying around.

Whatever dude! My Profi radio does NOT look femmy! It is unique and I like it that way.

I dunno, Pink Mary Kay Cadillacs are unique and they definitely look femmy...

Hey, if you like it and and are happy then don't let anyone get under your skin.

It's a nice, slim, and light radio and it does rock

...aesthetically pleasing and plays music during the race, now I have to get one.

LOL, rvrrun! I'm glad you're getting used to that submit button.

Pink = femmy, but since when does Gray + Green = femmy? Come on, you're all just jealous! LOL! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

It looks pretty cool, but when you feel it in your hands you'll see how ergonomically designed it isn't. I was really thinking about getting one until I got to try it. It's got good bang for the buck, but I just don't like how it feels. That's just my opinion. Ergonomics are very important to me.

you have to remember, that is just his opinion.... you need to try one out yourself to form your opinion... i personally like the feel of the XR-3.... and you get a huge bang for the buck with that radio (and it even looks cool http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif )....

This is one of those "I own it, therefore it's the best" threads. I'm sure everyone believes whatever radio they own is the best for them, but it's really a matter of preference and feel when you get to the higher level radios. They all have more functions than we could ever use, so just head down to the hobby shop, put each one in you hand, and see which you like best.

Yep, just go up to everyones pit and grab there radio to see if you like it. Be sure to slam it down when your done.....Just kidding. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif The LHS should be your first stop to see what they have, and you can judge from there. Remember fit is what you want, not just an expensive radio. I've never held an multiplex radio, but I hear works great, and can be used at any Star Trek convention as a phazer! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I highly recommend the Futaba 3PJS. It's not big and bulky like the M8, but it has the same features. Plus, I like the way it fits in my hand, it's really comfortable http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

I think the Lynx 3d is nice. I seen a lot of radios and they are pretty fair.

I got my XR3 and it rules! Whoooo hooooo!

$170 and it came with 2 servos and a reciever (I read somewhere that the XR3 came as just the transmitter)

I MUST recommend my Multiplex Profi Car 403, because it rocks and was relatively cheap. I got the radio with its 6-cell rechargeable battery pack and charge jack for $160. One of its coolest features is that it can transmit AM or FM, but it has tons of cool features. Click the link above and read about it, I think you'll be impressed. It'll work with ANY reciever (on the same 75 mhz band), so you can use your old stuff or new stuff you may get. Who needs standard servos and a reciever, when you'll end up upgrading to better servos and a Novak XXTRA anyway? I say save your money and get exactly what you want separately; don't waste money on standard servos that won't be good enough for racing. I love mine, and so does everybody else who gets to see & feel it.

The best radio is the one you can't afford. If you can afford them all then there isn't a "best" radio.
