with the 5800 brushless novak system, motor and speed controller, what kind of top speed would i get in a tc3 with say a 23 tooth motor spur and 3300mah matched cells? i am hoping around 50mph?

It's hard to predict exactly how fast a car will go, but regardless, it should be fast :D

you should drop a few teeth on the pinion I believe. That will balance out the power and give you a little extra speed. Maybe a 19 tooth?

whooaahh now, decreasing the pinion is more torque man. BIGGER=HIGHER TOPEND SMALLER=TORQ but not as much top end.

I have a TC3/Novak 5800 with a skyline shell rubber tires and I'm just waiting for some good weather to do some speed runs .I have pinions up to 26 tooth 7 cell 3300 nimh's and a 3000mah 11.1 volt lipo plus a cooling fan on the esc and motor for testing purposes.Got a radar gun a couple weeks ago and now I've got the bug to radar everything I own.So far mamba powered rc18t @ 49 mph and my basically stock LST @ 40 mph.
If the weather clears here sometime soon I'll be able to tell you exactly how fast I get my TC3 to go :) and I'll report back....looks like more rain this weekend so dunno :(

Unless you're overgeared, which seriously hurts top speed more than helps it. But yes, higher numerical ratios are for torque, lower is for top end.
And there's no real point in posting "how fast will my car go with >insert stuff here<" because conditions of road, tires, drivetrain, that actual system itself, can all be slightly different. But it'll be fast, let's put it that way. If you want 50+ mph of speed for about the same price, get a warrior 7018 and basic 4200 and load it up on 8 or 9 cells. Give ya PLENTY of speed.;)
