My grandfather bought me a Nikko rc(I can't remember what model, but it was a buggy) and the year was 85 or 86. I continued to play with it and a couple of other toy grade rc's I bought untill I was about 13. Then I moved to Florida and didn't do anything but get myself into trouble so I moved back to NY and met up with my cousin who's been into hobby grade rc for a while and was instantly hooked and have been an rc junky ever since.

When my brother and I were young (like 4 and 5) we each got a Turbo Hopper for Christmas. That thing was fantastic, it ran forever. Later on my dad had his first stroke and my brother and I were all over the place staying at aunts, uncles, and grandparents houses for a while. Well one of my uncles owns Eugene Toy & Hobby and he had an RC10 buggy that he hadn't used in years. He pulled that out of a box in the garage and started working on it with us. Soon after that my brother and I each had to get one. Life happened and I got out of RC for that last 14 years. Still went in and checked them out but didn't upgrade or play around much untill I saw the T-Maxx. I had to get that, but because of the weather and my limited exposure to Nitro I don't use it much. Going to be getting a electric Stampede next month with my Father in law. That should be a blast.

lol :) .
I don't remember exactly how I got into it, I'm sure my older brother started it and then my best friend and I started getting into it. My brother's first car was the Tamiya Striker. It had a 540 motor I couldn't believe how fast it was to my Rockbuster (don't remember the manufacturer, let me know if you do). The Rockbuster had a 360 motor, or maybe 280??? I don't remember. My friend out did us and got an RC10 gold tub, which my brother got as well. I finally stepped up and bought a JRX-Pro when I was 11; still have it. I had that for a long time and then wasn't into rc for several years. The mini-t brought me back though. I bought one a year ago and then a couple months later bought a TC3. I haven't decided my next purchase, it won't be until after I rally out my TC3. I have all the parts, just need to be home long enough to install and tweak it as well as paint the body and all of the other finishing. [/end of rambling]

About 2 1/2 years ago, as a self-reward for my GCSE grades, I decided to buy myself a big 'toy', something that I could, just as a one-off buy myself and enjoy...I was looking at a HiFi or a Tamiya Wild Dagger which I read about in a magazine. I decided on the Dagger, and the rest is history....hooked on R/C!

One day me and my friend were riding our bikes by this local park and saw this guy driving a T-maxx. About two weeks after that my friend got a maxx then I went out that summer and bought my first r/c which was an HPI RS4 3. I've been in it for about 2 years and love it

My buddy had a Monster Beetle when i was in 5th grade, he ran it under a car, and basically totalled it. When i was in 6th grade, he got a Stampede, and i wanted one so bad. He sold it, and was out for a while, and i never got one. Then when i was in 7th grade, he got an Evader ST, and i had to have one. So i got one for my birthday, and ever since then, i've been hooked. He's gone through a lot, just selling and buying, he's had a T-Maxx 2.5, Rustler 2.5, Ofna Buggy, now he has a Losi XXX-NT. He basically got me hooked. I bought a TC3 racer kit about a year ago, and love it. I traded him my evader about 2 weeks ago, for a Nitro Rush he got for 100 bucks off another buddy of mine, so now i'm finally into nitro. Just bought some purple aluminum, wheels, tires, body, and a new O.S. CV-RX .18. Not running yet, i forgot to get the mounts for the motor (stupid me).

I was at the local res, and I saw someone drivind a boat (Traxxas Blast). After that, I looked on the net, and found out just what some RC stuff can do. I got into boats first, but then I discovered cars, got an E-Maxx, and I absolutely love it (I've had it for 2 1/2 years now)

A couple years ago, a friend of mine took me to a track for the first time. I didnt think anything of it and I just planned on watching him race then that was it. After seeing all those cars and the speed and sounds, I've always wanted to get one and try it out. Well just this past christmas we spent it at home this year and I was bored so I decided to surf the web, suddenly this pop up comes up about hobbies, so I click. I'm surfing this website and I see RC Cars/Trucks. I surfed for about a long ass time looking at rc cars/trucks and ended up on towerhobbies.com. I ended up buying my first nitro buggy. A week later....bought my first touring car.....and here I am today. I just so fascinated on the upgrades you can do. I plan on upgrading as much as I can then probably get another car.

Mine is a long story.
But whats funny is people have told me Im not a "true" RC hobby enthusiast because I only have one RC and its not even a pro racer. Ontop of that Ive been told the same thing because its not fully decked out. The BEST part is when Im told that by a KID......
Things I spend money on
Gas for real truck
insruance
rc fuel
batteries
replacement parts
computer
real truck modifications
clothes
printer ink
ammo
paintballs and co2 fiils
Black CDs
Phew....lol
I saw them in a magazine and wanted one...my dad was gonna get me and my bro one but never got around to it. I started to save and got about $235 and my dad put the same amount toward me getting one. Got the NMT and Ive loved it ever since. My dad use to be a pilot but lost his license when he had heart problems and couldnt fly anymore....He wanted me to get a plane and asked me a few times whether I was sure I wanted a truck and not a plane...I still feel REALLY bad and makes me teary eyed actually every now and then because I know he wanted me to get a plane so we could fly it together. Ive wanted to be a pilot later in life for as long as I can remember.....I got into it about..5 years ago.....maybe 6 (NMT had JUST come out). Im gonna get a few small mods for my truck...like beef up some of the parts and get performance upgrades and Its gonna stay like that for a long time. Take it out every now and then to toy with but Im saving up to get a gas plane.....Im gonna get like a beginner bi-plane or something and get a nice 4 stroke motor and radio set and learn on that with my dad.....and if it every crashes or wrecks I can just get a new plane itself and transfer the engine and radio over and not be a whole lot in the whole....

Four years ago, I went to a hobby store and I looekd at Tamiya Plastic Model cars. I bought a kit and went home to build it. After a while, I went to the Tamiya website and I saw R/C cars. So i went to my lhs and I saw people practicing on the track. So I became interested in it. And in 2003 June, I got my very first R/C car, it was the Enzo Ferrari Tamiya TT-01. Now I am hooked to it!

go extrememt go...wut wut....its great that ur getting a plane for u and your dad.....i fell guilty about not paying as much attention to boats as i do to cars....i hope to improve though...my story is kinda like chevy's...in 2000 i saw a guy run what i think was a t-maxx and i loved it...i wanted to ask if i can drive it but was afraid he would say no...id crash it anyways prolly...so i kinda forgot about this and just like chevy it popped outa nowhere into my mind....

You should take THIS one with a laugh, it's actually kinda funny. Sorta like someone arguing with YOU about their Pentium II being as good as your AMD. :D
.....and if it every crashes or wrecks I can just get a new plane itself and transfer the engine and radio over and not be a whole lot in the whole....
Word of warning from an ex-flier: the engine is in the front and you seldom crash from the back. :D

When I was a kid a long time ago my aunt's boyfriend at the time gave me his Marui Samurai 4WD car. It was broken down and didn't have the parts to make it run properly but I worked on it all the time to make it run for just a few minutes at a time before my "engineering" broke. My dad was so impressed with my passion and skill at working on it that one day he got me a Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid SE. After putting that car together and running it around it was all over for me. I started racing and it's been me and one Kyosho car after another.

Flew control line airplanes as a kid and just flat wore out COX 049 engines, 6 or 7 I think. Looking back, I didn't appreciate how much Dad was spending on glo fuel, but we moved around and the changes crimped the hobby. Sr year in high school built a 5' wing span balsa with teh biggest engine I'd ever owned - .35 McCoy Redhead. Thing would fly for 25-30min at a time - 75' of control line to keep from getting sick from being dizzy.
Got my 1st rc airplane for grad - built it and flew a lot - engineering school put an end to that. Work, wife, job etc - every once in a while would see an RC plane mag and get the bug, but about 3yr ago was walking our dogs and watched saome guys and kids bashing Tmaxxes and other MTs in the city park. Rest is history, wished I had not waited so long to get back in! I thought I was going to get my feet wet with a car/truck and then get back into planes - not going to happen, these are too much fun.

Friend brought a real rc car to school after I mentioned radioshack cars. Been hooked ever since. Always wen't to the LHS after school, browsed on the internet, got magazines, etc. BTW this was in HS back in err..hmm..thing it was 2000...LOL! He's been outta rc though and into real cars. I just got into them. I'd like to see the TL01 though and if I go back into elec, get a better setup. The Sport NT..heck..id sell it. I'd like to keep the R40, HB buggy, and MGT. That's it. I'll be running a real car hopefully before summer.

lets see..i got into matchbox/hotwheels cars..got a fisherprice rc buggy thing that went like..5-7mph at the most..probably more like 3-5 mph..the i got a a couple tyco rc's over the next few years..then got a bin of old tyco rc's from my neighbor's son who worked t some tyco place..they were broken but worked-all i cared about was speed really..then that got boring so i wanted to build a faster rc.yes build..i was little..i didnt know anything..and iwanted it to go anywhere from 20-40 mph..then abuot a year my friend told me of his friends gas powered stadium truck that goes 60 mph i was like "holy crap!" but it was expenive so i was like "screw that"..its a hpi rs4 nmt which i discovered doesnt go 60....anywhop then i found a site with an hpi gas car(supernitro with porsche body) and eventually found hpi's site..i thouhgt the bodys they had were all diferent cars. anywho..i eventualyl got an mt2..obviously..then i broke it..now im here....heh..kinda long post isnt it..
